How To Create A Coastal Inspired Summer Tablescape

Sharing is caring!

Create a coastal inspired summer tablescape inspired by the beautiful Rhode Island beaches from my childhood.

Growing up in Rhode Island beautiful beaches were just 20 minutes away, so they were a favorite place for our family to visit. When Summer approaches I love to update my decor with a casual coastal style.  It really blends beautifully with the shades of blues and grays that I decorate with year round in a farmhouse style.

Today it is all about Summer Tablescape ideas so I went with my favorite casual Coastal Inspired Tablescape. I hope you will love it as much as I do!

As I am careful to decorate on a budget (my daughter still has a year left in College, lol) I try to either DIY my decorations or use what I have on hand.

That is one of the great things about coastal or beach decor is you can gather supplies right from outside. Grab some sand and seashells and create the perfect coastal inspired summer tablescape! Here is how I brought the beach to my home…

You just have to include starfish into a Coastal Inspired Summer Tablescape, right? I shared my DIY starfish napkin rings here

The beautiful blue and white dinner plates were found at my local thrift store for 50 cents a piece! Can you believe that? I did a little happy dance when I saw them.

The blue is the perfect shade to blend with the blue bowls that I also paid 5o cents a piece for on the same day. There was a dining room table set up that had four place settings plus the blue stemmed wine glasses. I bought it all for $6.50! You can’t beat that.

The pretty pearl white chargers came from the Dollar Store, but they were all white when I bought them. Don’t be afraid to make some changes to the items you buy-especially if you only paid a dollar for them.

Once I got the chargers home and set them with the dinner plates, they were just too plain. What is a crafter to do? Pull out some acrylic paint and a small paintbrush and add polka dots!  The navy in the plate totally stands out now. I love when things work out. Plus, if you mess it up you are only out a dollar.

I used a wood “runner” for the center of the table adding seashells and starfish.

As a little treat for guests I made some beach themed chocolates. These are so easy to make with a candy mold that you can find here. I am having a 21st birthday party for my daughter in July and plan to make some of these up as favors.

After I made the candy, I thought it would be cute to have wine glass charms made out of the same mold. Here is a tutorial for these cute little charms wine glass charms

I always add candles to all my tablescapes. It just gives it such a nice ambience. The blue glass bottles were found while thrifting at two different shops, but they blend beautifully together. They are the perfect size for taper candles. The rope handle jar is a nice addition to the coastal theme.

What a pretty summer tablescape, Michelle. I love the shades of blue. The wood slice is a great touch, too. Thanks for sharing at Snickerdoodle. Pinning.
