I found the perfect pineapple stencils at the craft store from Martha Stewart. Leave it to Martha to take these stencils up a notch. These actually have a sticky backing so you don’t even have to use tape to hold them down. Such a time saver. Plus you put them back on the sticky film so it is reusable. As a crafter any little time savers like these are a big help!

Simply lay the stencil where you want it on the towel and use the stencil brush to “pounce” the paint on. My one tip that I learned over the years is less is more with stenciling. You want to have a very light amount of paint on the brush. If you use too much, no matter how good the stencil, it may bleed. You can always start light and go in and fill it in later. I did exactly that on these towels as there were a few missed spots in one of the pineapples as shown below:

I originally planned to leave these as is, but I felt they needed a little something. I went to my craft stash and found some trim to add to the bottoms and they went from cute to absolutely adorable just like that!

I liked the idea of having 3 different towels so I changed up both the stenciling arrangement and trim. Wouldn’t these make a nice housewarming gift? I could totally see these in a gift basket with the ceramic pineapple and maybe even a real pineapple for a Welcome Home gift!

Those are so adorable! My boys and I learned all about the significance of the pineapple and how it became known as a symbol of hospitality for these old seaside towns who's husbands often traveled the seas for months at a time when we were visiting Newport a few years ago and I have to admit I now just love pineapple home decor accents. Thanks so much for sharing with us at the Summer Time Fun Linky.
