Like so many of you, I have fond memories of going out to dinner with my parents and sister when I was a kid and ordering a Shirley Temple on special occasions.

I can still remember how great it felt when that little glass filled with cherries and, of course, a paper umbrella- was placed in front of me.

My sister and I had quite the collection of paper umbrellas at one point.

I thought it would be fun to take a childhood favorite mocktail and turn it into a grown up cocktail!

Here is the finished product and then we’ll go over how I made it.

If you are going to sugar the rim place the Mason jar in the freezer for 30 minutes prior to serving.

Wet the rim a little bit and swirl it in the red sugar.

Place about 6 cherries in each glass then fill 1/2 way with ice.

Add a shot of vodka and a shot of peachtree then fill with 7UP. Add a couple of orange slices.

Next add two-three teaspoons of grenadine and stir well.

I added more cherries to the top along with an orange slice and a pretty paper straw.

I also picked up these cool mason jar glasses with handles and made a smaller version, perfect for an after dinner drink!

I purchased the 7UP 2-Liter bottles at Stop & Shop however you can also find 7UP at your local Giant Landover and Giant Carlisle.

If you haven’t tried baking with 7UP it is something you will want to try!

7UP is definitely my go to choice for not only mixed drinks, but also just served on its own.

It really is so refreshing. I love it over ice with a lime for a great non alcoholic drink.

My go to party punch features 7UP, fruit punch and sherbet.

This is always requested whenever I have a party.

We can’t leave out the Dad’s-the one drink requested by the guys at our family gatherings is a 7 & 7.

For Father’s Day I make my Dad a “favorite things” basket which includes-7 & 7, red fish & his favorite snacks.

It’s become a tradition-just like our Shirley Temples as kids!

The next time you are planning a party or just enjoying a night at home, be sure to have 7UP on hand and mix up these great drinks!
