Like so many of you, I fell in love with the show Fixer Upper. Joanna’s style of decorating just speaks to me.

If you watch the show you will see she decorates almost every home with a farmhouse sign.

They are very large scale and usually white with black lettering. That is exactly what I wanted for my farmhouse sign.

This project came together so easily and I cannot believe I haven’t made one before, but rest assured I will be making more of these. Here is what I used:

DIY Farmhouse Sign Supplies

I purchased the plywood and wood trim at the home supply store and they actually cut the pieces to size.

See what I mean about this being an easy project? The great thing about plywood is it is so inexpensive, as well as versatile.

This sign cost under $20 to make for everything. As soon as I picked up the wood I got to work giving the plywood two coats of the white paint letting it dry in between.

I wanted it to be almost a white washed finish as I believe that adds to the farmhouse look. While that was drying I stained the trim.

Next I used stencils for the words that I wanted and filled them in with the sharpie paint pen. I plan to add a different saying on the back adding the trim as well so I can flip it over if I get tired of it.

I saw this sign at Hobby Lobby and plan to use this saying:

Finally, attach the trim with wood glue and finish nails.
