Refinished Hutch With Country Chic Metallic Cream

Sharing is caring!

Today I’m so excited to share my refinished Hutch that I submitted for the May Fab Furniture Flippin Contest™ sponsored by Country Chic Paint . We are featuring their gorgeous metallic cream! When I found out that we would be using metallic cream, I did a little happy dance ??! I have been wanting to try out metallic cream for some time! Country Chic Paint has really wonderful products that are eco-friendly and self-priming-basically meaning less work for you! One thing I found very helpful is that their website is chock full of information and video tutorials to help you when using their products.  Check out the great choices in the metallics line:

Disclosure: I received free paint from Country Chic Paint in exchange for writing a review on the blog. Although this post is sponsored all opinions are 100% mine. I only promote product I believe in!

The theme for this month’s #fabflippincontest is “Bling Bling”! That is right up my alley! I decided to use the beautiful silver bullet cream shown in the lower right of the above picture-gorgeous right?  I chose Pebble Beach for the paint choice:

Even the labels are beautiful! I recently refinished my Dining Room Table in a grey weathered wood finish and wanted to update my hutch as well. I painted the hutch years ago in white, with black hardware. To be honest, I never really was happy with it. It always felt blah. The one thing I was happy with was I took out the glass panels and added chicken wire ?!

Here is my blinged out hutch in all her beautiful silver metallic glory:

I started by taking off the hardware and giving it two coats of the metallic cream. This cream is seriously amazing! A little goes a long way. I could have just used one coat-the coverage is that good-but I really wanted the hardware to stand out and add to the “bling” factor. Once the hardware was done I gave the entire hutch two coats of Pebble Beach, letting it dry between coats. As this is a chalk paint, it dries quick, which is great for impatient people like myself! Look at the gorgeousness:

I then used a very light brush-almost like a dry brush technique-to add the metallic cream to the entire hutch. This really steps it up a notch and adds great dimension. There is a helpful video on Country Chic’s website showing how to apply metallic cream. Once this was done I painted the inside in just the metallic. I really wanted to update the chicken wire as well and used the cream on this also. It really made a difference and brightened it up.

Hutch Update

Even the beautiful decorative paper I previously attached to the back of the hutch shows up so much better now!  There is nothing blah about this hutch any longer! I ended up adding antique wax to the hardware so there would be a nice contrast. I am so in love with the hutch now and feel it compliments my dining room table nicely. I still have to refinish the dining chairs and will share an updated picture once that is done. I plan to use this same technique on the chairs!
