This $5 thrift store cart received a super fun makeover into a DIY rolling bar cart, using paint and a stencil.

I’ve paired up with a great group of talented ladies to bring you a monthly Thrift Store Decor Upcycle Challenge.

Each month we will create a new home decor piece from an item(s) we’ve found at a thrift store, yard sale, resale shop etc.

There is no budget or specific theme so we are free to let our creativity run wild!

I look so forward to these monthly challenges. I really wanted to create something different this month so I headed to my favorite thrift store to see what I could find.

Supplies  Needed For Rolling Bar Cart

I definitely picked the right day to go, as all wood furniture was 50% off! I immediately was drawn to this rolling cart-I think it was used as a microwave cart in its former life. Check this beauty out:

It was marked $9.99, which means I paid $5 for this baby! Now check out what I turned it into:

DIY Bar Cart painted sky blue

A rolling bar cart-cool right? I gave it a good cleaning first, then a light sanding. Other than that, the piece was in very good shape and didn’t need any repairs.

I used two coats of this beautiful Valspar seafoam color called Schoolboy Blue that I picked up for .99! They had a sale on paint samples at Lowe’s and this color just jumped out at me.

I find it very soothing. Once it was dry I gave it a coat of clear wax to protect it. I stenciled “BAR” on the bottom shelf and picked up some flour sack towels to hang on the handles.

I staged it as a bar cart, but honestly this cart could be used on a porch to serve sweet tea or even in a bathroom to store extra towels.

There are so many options and for $5 it was definitely a steal! This rolling bar cart is going to my niece-who will use it to serve her Aunt Fireball & Ginger ale 🙂

Hope you like it Breanna!
