It’s time for another Thrift Store Upcycle Challenge!! I’ve paired up with an amazing group of talented ladies to bring you a monthly thrift store challenge. Each month we will create a new home decor piece from an item(s) we’ve found at a thrift store, yard sale, resale shop etc. There is no budget or specific theme so we are free to let our creativity run wild!

It’s time once again for our fun thrift store decor upcycle challenge and I’m sharing this great yard sale cabinet. Please excuse the poor photo quality-I was in a time crunch so I used my phone camera.

Thrift Store Upcycle Yard Sale Cabinet Makeover Our Crafty Mom

I once again have my Dad to thank as he found this gem at a yard sale for $12! I will admit to being a little skeptical when I first saw it, because-while beautiful-it just does not go with my decor. The piece is made incredibly well and the punched tin is such a classic country look, but I knew this would just sit in storage if I didn’t update it.  I used one of my favorite shades of blue from DecoArt Chalky Finish paint in serene. I gave it two coats letting it dry in between. I decided to use a silver metallic wax to give it an almost pearl like finish. I also used this on the tin to lighten it up. I plan to hang this cabinet and use it for craft supplies or paints. I thought the top drawer could hold small brushes. I think it is so regal now, especially with the addition of the crystal knobs from D. Lawless Hardware .
