This was a project I started & had to put on hold until Graduation was over. Both of these items were roadside finds. The chair was in need of a paint job desperately. It had graffiti all over it with words beginning with F-certainly not something we want to showcase for the kiddos, lol. I gave both a good cleaning & painted the chair black. I love the stainless legs & left them as is. It needed something though, so I decided to stencil numbers almost like a subway art. Love it!

One thing that I absolutely cannot do is sew. I tell myself I still may learn someday, but I think the last thing I need is another hobby! Luckily, there are so many no sew options out there & while they may not be as good as the real deal, they will pass! I am on a starfish kick lately & fell in love with Worthing Court’s starfish pillow. I wanted to try using Stampin’ Up!’s big shot adhesive sheets with burlap & it worked great! I literally drew a starfish free hand & placed it over a piece of burlap backed with the adhesive sheet & cut it out. I purchased some really cool shiny cranberry fabric at Hobby Lobby & hot glued three sides inside out, turned it back & used a pillow form also from Hobby Lobby (don’t forget your coupon) then glued the top. I attached the starfish using a little Tombow glue for the corners. Again, I would prefer if it was sewn, but it can be our little secret, right? Happy Friday!!
I was a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator for 4 years until recently. I absolutely loved it-some of the most creative ladies I have ever met! I still love to stamp & am always looking for new things to stamp on (no joke) I’ve done pillows, curtains, benches. Why not…..dominos!! I made these necklaces using Black Stazon ink, dominos & either ribbon or black leather cording for the chains. I attached with silver bales & e6000 glue. I am selling these at craft fairs & in a local artisan store. The possibilities are endless, as I have quite the stash of stamps. Working on bumblebee ones now.
I had no idea what to call this, but it is basically a 1×4 board which I drilled holes in to attach repurposed milk bottles to use as vases. I have seen some with mason jars used in a bathroom to hold qtips, etc-so many options. I was going to hang it horizontal but then liked the look of it standing on my porch filled with beautiful peonies which just bloomed! I like these almost as much as my lilacs!
While this was a Graduation Party, so many ideas can be used for any outdoor party. This party was done on a budget with a lot of repurposed items, not only because of cost but also because I love the look! First I have to show a pic of the Happy Graduate!
Now let’s party! First as guests walked in I set up a table with grad photo frames that her friends could sign. Thought she could bring these to College with her & when she was feeling homesick she could think about all the people who love & support her. These were bought from the Dollar Store!
Today I am sharing these Wine Bottle Solar Lights. This idea happened totally by accident-don’t you love when that happens? I had today off prepping for my daughter’s graduation party. I was putting together the wine station, because-really-doesn’t every party need a wine station? (over 21 only) I thought about what would happen when it got dark out-how would we see to pour our wine 😉 I had picked up these solar lights from the Dollar Store & thought how cute it would be to have one by the wine, then of course I had to think about what to put it in when I saw the twine covered wine bottle I had planned to put flowers in. I grabbed the solar light & did a little happy dance when it fit perfectly on top!! I didn’t glue it because then I can use them in the yard later.
My daughter’s last day of high school is tomorrow. She has been blessed with some truly amazing teachers. One amazing lady went above & beyond-Chorus Teacher Ms. Lynn Dowding. Amanda is in Vocal Select as well and spent a lot of time with her including a class trip to NY where they were able to see a Broadway show. Ms. Dowding has various groups that she works with about 3-4 nights a week. Here she is with Amanda after their last concert:
I forgot to take a before pic of this piece I found on the side of the road (yes, I’ve become one of those!). It was an oak color & covered in fruit stickers and I don’t mean pretty decoupage, I mean literally huge stickers of fruit! But, it was a beautiful old tool caddy & I nearly hit a tree slamming on my breaks to get it. My kids tell me I have serious ADD when I drive this time of year because I am always looking for yard sales or stuff on the side of the road with a lovely cardboard sign with my favorite word FREE! Anyway I cleaned it up peeling & sanding the stickers, then gave it a whitewash. It is perfect now to hold plates & silverware for what is now known as “the party”. I added a cute little burlap “enjoy” banner because everything is better with burlap!
My Dad picked up a bureau for me that I spotted on Craigslist. Unfortunately the picture didn’t show the huge chunk of wood that was missing from the front that no amount of wood filler would fix (trust me I tried ). So, I figured I would repurpose the drawers. It has some cool caddy type ones that I may use for my craft room to hold buttons, etc. here is a before pic of a drawer:
