Welcome friends! I am thrilled to be sharing a sneak peak into my Holiday Home as part of the Simply Seasonal Holiday Edition sponsored by Caroline from Organize Nashville .

Holiday Home Tour Simply Seasonal Our Crafty Mom

This is such a fun blog hop with a great group of bloggers bringing you Holiday inspiration. Thanks for hopping over from Two Purple Couches . Wasn’t her home just lovely?   One of the things I really enjoy about this hop is each blogger includes 5 tips to make the Holiday season great. It is so nice to  get ideas from others and be inspired! If you’ve visited Our Crafty Mom before, you know I am all about decorating for the Holidays! But my favorite spot to decorate hands down is the mantle. It is definitely the focal point of the room and I try to change it up often by “shopping my home”. It is an inexpensive way to decorate!

I will be sharing a tutorial soon for the copper ornament wreath that I just made for $12! I decorated with lots of metallics and can’t wait to share my Christmas tree in Part 2 of my home tour next week. Here is the secret to how I achieved the full, realistic look to the garland. I combined a fake pine garland with a real pine garland!

Next, place pretty Christmas florals and picks into the garland. I made two large bows for each end of the mantle. The gorgeous Mercury glass candle holders are from Oriental Trading .

I so love my stag pillow from Lucy at Craftberry Bush it fits perfectly in my rustic glam theme.

A huge thank you to Painted Fox Home for sending me the beautiful Pearl And Olive Buckets . The poinsettias look so pretty in them!

  • 5 Tips To Make Your Holidays Great

  1. Decorate with things you love-this is definitely something I learned over the years. While I decorated in metallics, which are definitely on trend, I did this because I love them and have collected great finds over the years, not because they are in style. It’s important to surround yourself with things you love and not worry if they are the “in” thing.
  2. Bring out pieces that have meaning and sentimental value. If I could give one tip to Parents of young children, it would be to save those Christmas Ornaments that the kids bring home from School each year. When they are grown & no longer living with you, they will mean more than any store bought ornament you could ever find. I have always had a “kids tree” in which I display all the ornaments that they made at school-some of them are worn and torn a little, but their little handprints are on them, or the date and year. Who could forget the Angel face ornament? I tip my hat to the creative Teachers out there! I hope this is a tradition that continues.
  3. Speaking of traditions-stick with tradition. Bake a certain cookie each year with your kids, or make ornaments. One thing I have done for 25 years is buy or make an ornament for each child that signifies a milestone that year. For example, from graduating pre-school to getting their license! It is so fun to pull out the ornament & remember exactly when that happened-back to the “baby’s first Christmas” ornament. Take a family photo each year and keep them in a scrapbook. This is truly what the Holidays are about.
  4. Don’t stress-enjoy the Holidays. At the end of the day your family won’t remember if the tree was crooked or the cookies were overcooked, but they will remember enjoying Pepe and Nana coming over for dinner and spending time together. Be present.
  5. Tour a light show-there is a huge light show one State over that we used to bring our kids to every year.  It really is magical. One great memory I have from my childhood is taking an impromptu ride with my parents & my sister and going to check out all the lights in the neighborhood in our pajamas!

I hope you enjoyed this peak into my  Holiday Home and my tips! Thank you for visiting!
