Welcome friends! When I heard Remodelaholic was having a Pallet Challenge-which would be the kick-off  for Pallets Aplenty week on Remodelaholic, I jumped at the chance to participate. In the Pallet Challenge there are a total of nine brand new pallet projects. Then the Pallet Aplenty begins where there will be several new posts per day of project tutorials and ideas, plus the week-long pallets only link party for any and all pallet projects. We would love it if you would check it out and if you have any pallet projects, please link up! I will include the link to this as well as the 8 other great pallet projects shared below.

DIY Live Wood Pallet Bar Our Crafty Mom

I have been wanting to create a pallet bar for so long and finally completed it last week! Of course, I had to put my own spin on it so I gave it a live wood top, instead of using tiles like I’ve seen before. Here is my live wood top pallet bar all decked out for fall entertaining!

I really love the wood top. I asked my Dad if his friend-who works at a lumber mill-could cut me a wood slab about 6′ long. I really wanted the bark to stay on and did research on how best to seal it. I hate to say it but I accidentally deleted the photo I took of the log when I first got it. However, it was just a 6′ log with the top half sliced off and the entire bark left on. I was so excited when my Dad dropped it off! He also helped me assemble the bar. We took two run of the mill, left on the road, pallets and attached them together-bottom to bottom-with the pallets going vertical, as I wanted it to be bar height. We then attached them in the four corners using brackets. These babies are solid. Next, I gave it two coats of white paint using my new Wagner Paint Sprayer.

This was my first time using it and I love it! I sanded the top of the wood with my orbital sander

and then gave it two coats of minwax stain in golden oak, as I really wanted a deep rich brown. Here is a close-up of wood top:

Once it dried I gave it two coats of clear spray varnish. This protects it from the elements. I didn’t want to drill through the top, so I attached it using wood glue. But honestly, it is so heavy that it pretty much is secure without the glue. DIY Live Wood Top Pallet Bar Our Crafty Mom

Isnt it so cool? I can stand behind it and play bartender. There is room to put glasses and wine bottles inside. Now be sure to hop on over to the projects below. Just click on the highlighted blue name in each project.

I love this project. It is simple and enhances a grilling area quite nicely.

As you know, I love pallet projects. Pallets have supported our family for many years. My husband makes all kinds of things with them when he's feeling well.
