We are nearing the finish line for the One Room Challenge and I am so excited for the reveal! If you are not familiar with the ORC, it is organized by Linda at Calling It Home and sponsored by House Beautiful.

It is a biannual event every April and October where 20 bloggers are invited to makeover a space from start to finish in under 6 weeks. You can also participate as a guest participant, which is what I’m doing.

For the first time ever it has been extended to 7 weeks making the reveal date November 16th.

One Room Challenge Week 4-Master Bedroom Retreat

In case you missed it, here are links to the first four weeks:

When I first decided to participate in the ORC, I knew immediately I wanted to turn my master bedroom into a retreat.

As with most Moms, I tend to do things for my kids and other people, but rarely myself. Now that my kids are older, I felt it was time to treat myself and what better way than to create a master retreat!

As I was putting together my mood board I immediately thought of this gorgeous piece of art I had seen at Tre Sorelle Studios.

It is a Watercolor Cotton Boll Painting and it just spoke to me. First of all, I love all things cotton boll, plus the colors were perfect for this space.

Look at the soft muted tones and the “blessed” sentiment is exactly how I feel when I crawl into bed at night!

It is just the right size to hang over the bed at 36″x24″ and comes on 1.5″ Canvas framing, ready to hang. This became the inspiration piece for the room and the farmhouse style is my favorite!

You will see how this piece ties in with my beautiful new bedding next week.

You can follow Tre Sorelle Studios on Facebook here and check out their blog here. Week 5 was all about artwork and I wanted to share a simple tutorial for these DIY Rustic Frames.

I saw this post on Facebook from Her Tool Belt and asked my Dad if he could make two for me. Here is what he used:

DIY Rustic Frames Supplies

  • 1×4 Pine
  • 1×3 Pine
  • 1″ Wood Screws
  • Minwax Stain in Special Walnut

They measure 17″x23″ and I just added framed 11″x14″ photos to each one. I love that I can easily change out the photos and they have the rustic farmhouse look I was going for!

I also shared the beautiful horse print that I found at Hobby Lobby to go over a vintage ladder. Notice the cotton boll stems? More to come on those!!
