You are in for such a treat today as I recently visited a beautiful New England Country Home owned by my cousin Ray and his wife Janice.

There is so much eye candy so grab a glass of lemonade and settle in for some wonderful inspiration!

Summer Front Porch

The second I pulled into the driveway of this lovely home, the pride of ownership was evident.

It really is such an idyllic setting and definitely reminded me of something on the cover of Better Homes & Gardens.

Before I get to the landscaping, let’s look at the warm and inviting front porch.

There is something so elegant about porches decorated for the Fourth of July with bunting. It is so classic.

The attention to detail is what took this Colonial home from lovely to stunning. The wagon wheel corbels had my heart going a pitter patter!

Don’t you just want to sit down and have a glass of iced tea? Seriously, Paula Deen and Martha Stewart would be right at home here!

From the country ladder to the summer ferns it just screams Welcome.

Everywhere I looked there was something I wanted to photograph. The garage doors caught my eye-then I looked up and saw the lights by the door and I did a little happy dance!

Aren’t they gorgeous? And don’t even get me started on the stonework! Before I take you in the backyard, you have to see some of the details in the front yard.

Landscaping Ideas

Both Ray and Janice have a passion for landscaping and it shows.  I had to narrow the pictures down as I just kept snapping away.

Here are a few that really caught my eye:

Look at the gorgeous arbor leading  into the backyard. Again, I have to point out the stone wall, it’s picture perfect!

Ray found this old faucet on the grounds during construction-it looks so cool in the stone wall.

See what I mean about the details?

Beautiful clematis just blooming:

You may want to refill your lemonade, because there is so much more to see as we head into the backyard.

I told you there was some serious eye candy!

Nothing like an antique iron patio set to bring charm to an outdoor area.

Look at the play area for their daughter Ashley:

The little playhouse complete with flower pots is a storybook setting.

Ray and Janice can sit on the bench and watch her play.

Benches and seating are in several areas throughout the yard making it so convenient for entertaining.

I don’t know what it is about this display but it was one of my favorites! Look at that gorgeous moss and antique chair!

Ray said hostas are his favorite and they are throughout the landscaping and give the yard so much texture and dimension.

The sense of history in the landscaping was another thing that I just loved about this property.

The rocks used in the landscaping were from the property.  He just recently added this dry stream, again using rocks from the area:

Summer Patio Decor

The back patio is another spot that I couldn’t wait to photograph. From the stone work to the edging to the decor, it was swoonworthy!

Look at the sign Hamlin’s Retreat-it most definitely is a retreat.

The vibrant water pitcher hanging basket was a recent gift for Janice for Mother’s Day.

As we rounded the front house I stopped short when I saw the window box that Janice filled with faux flowers.

Floral displays are an obvious talent of hers and while they are not real flowers, they are absolutely lovely with the classic thrillers, fillers and spillers floral display.

She sets these up seasonally and I can’t wait to see her Fall displays! Fall is a favorite.

Roses and iris’ fill the area leading back to the front yard.

I had originally planned to share the inside in this post as well, but there is so much to see and it really deserves a post on its own.

So be sure to come back next week to see the inside of this beautiful New England Colonial.

Trust me, you do not want to miss this! I have to say a huge thank you to Ray, Janice and Ashley for allowing me to photograph their home.

To connect with people who have a love of decorating as much as I do is a wonderful thing.

I seriously could have talked to them all day!
