Refinished Curbside Find

Sharing is caring!

I can’t wait to share this next project with you! It is a refinished curbside find that was in really, really bad shape-like, seriously a hot mess! But, I ignored the peeling veneer and scratches, because this baby had beautiful legs and gorgeous details on the side.

Here is the table in all it’s glory:

See what I mean about the legs and the curves? Look at the details on the side:

Ok-here’s the scary part:

Pretty bad right? But, I had this beautiful graphic paper that’s actually Drawer liner. There are gorgeous patterns for endless possibilities. French graphics really speak to me and I thought this had a modern farmhouse look.

Plus, it is neutral enough to work in any decor.  My favorite Mod podge was used to adhere the paper to both shelves. There are less wrinkles if you smooth it down with a credit card as you go. Let each coat dry in between. Three coats were used on this table.

To age this curbside find, I picked up antique wax and used Americana Chalk paint in yesteryear. I gave it two coats of chalk paint and then used an old rag and foam brush to apply the wax. Just brush it on, then wipe it off going as dark or light as you would like.

As I really wanted to darken the paper, I added a fair amount of dark wax and also used a clear wax on the wood.

So the next time you are at a yard sale or flea market (or your neighbor’s trash), think about those trash to treasure finds!

It really is a great feeling to see them transformed. If you have any trash to treasure projects that you’d like to share, please send me a picture. Furniture makeovers are some of my favorite projects!

This is beautiful Michelle. I am currently working on a coffee table with very similar legs to this. I love how yours turned out.

Shelf liner paper is so pretty and the sheets are such a manageable size. I love your table.
