Repurposed Thrift Store Votive Holder-3 Ways!

Sharing is caring!

See how I repurposed a thrift store votive holder into 3 different projects.

I’m so excited to bring you this Thrift Store Decor Upcycle Challenge! I’ve teamed up with 20 other bloggers for this thrift store blog hop.

The rules were simple–take an item(s) from a thrift store, yard sale, resale shop etc. and transform it into a new piece of home decor.

There was no budget, or theme to stick to so we were free to let our creativity run wild!

[Tweet “Thrift Store Decor Upcycle Challenge Tabletop Votive Holder Used Three Ways #OurCraftyMom”]

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE  a good challenge-add thrift store challenge to it and my day is made! When Amanda from The Kolb Corner mentioned this challenge, I jumped at the chance to participate.

There just happens to be a thrift store on my way home from work. On Wednesdays they have half off the entire store!

I may or may not pop in every Wednesday to see what treasures I may find. I tell my daughter it’s the hunt that is so fun.

Many times I leave empty handed, but every once in a while you find a diamond in the rough that makes it worthwhile.

I picked up this tabletop votive holder that was marked $3.99:

For $2 it was a steal! I then found 4 clay pots that fit perfectly in the holders for a quarter each. I picked up another two for a dollar at The Dollar Tree.

I just gave my deck an update here and wanted a centerpiece for the deck coffee table. As it is a little too cold here for real flowers, I thought I could fill the pots with faux succulents for now.
When it gets a little warmer I can always change them out with real succulents or ivy, or just leave them. First I gave the holder two coats of Americana Chalk Paint in Everlasting.

I wanted to pick up the pop of red/orange in the rug and pillows so gave the clay pots a couple coats with Lipstick indoor/outdoor acrylic paint.

I filled the little pots with moss and faux succulents.  I did finish the holder with clear wax to protect it from the elements.

I love how it looks on the table. Such a nice pop of color.

I also wanted to share a couple of other ways to use the votive holder. How about to serve dessert shots:

Or good old fashioned liquid shots at your next girls night? Shot glasses fit perfectly! My personal favorite ? Cheers!

I fell in love with these cool beach themed battery operated votives also from The Dollar Tree:

There you have it-three different, inexpensive options for a votive holder.  It’s fun to think outside of the box when upcycling items!

Be sure to check out my fellow bloggers’ projects too! So many creative ideas!

A big thank you to Amanda for organizing this fun challenge!

Great transformation! I need to be better at stopping by thrift stores and just browsing. I tend to go with a mission in mind! Visiting from Bewitchin' Projects.
