Turn an old bookshelf into a cool and functional DIY bar cart with this simple tutorial.

Guess what time it is? No-not Miller time! It’s Fab Furniture Flippin’ Time and I am so thrilled we are back!

This month’s sponsor is a really cool company, O’verlays and the theme is Cut n’ Paste. O’verlays are decorative panels that come in many different patterns and sizes.

They come in white but you can also paint them, which is awesome. You can use them to update old furniture, walls, or mirrors just to name a few.

Also, you know the popular IKEA furniture that we all love? They sell sizes specifically made to fit some of their most popular pieces.

My daughter is moving into her first apartment in August and IKEA is going to be our new best friend very soon.

We received product from O’verlays in exchange for this post, however all opinions are 100% mine. Please see my full disclosure here

This was my first time using O’verlays and it was even easier than I thought. The hardest part was deciding what pattern I wanted. I finally settled on Jasmine:

It may have been used as an old printer stand.

I have been crushing on metallics lately and thought  silver would be really glamorous for this bar cart.  I used Krylon K01010A Premium Metalic Original Chrome 8 Ounce.

Here it is after one coat:

One thing I’ve learned with metallic paint is you really have to use two-three coats and let it dry in between, otherwise you end up with spots like in the above picture.

After three coats this baby was ready for some glamorous fretwork!

I also added some pretty floral contact paper to the back for added interest and dimension.

This is such a soft, feminine print that works well with the silver. Here she is all ready to party:

It was so easy to line up the edges and I used wood glue to adhere it to the cart. Take a look at the before and after:

Isn’t it really glamorous now? I am so in love with this product and know there will be many more O’verlays in my future.

Love that look. Modern and classic at the same time, like something Holly from Breakfast at Tiffany's would have. :)
