Welcome to my home! I am so excited to be joining 23 very talented bloggers in my first ever “official” Holiday Home Tour! Today is day 2. If you are coming from Q-Schmitz Home Design , thank you for visiting! If not, please check out her home tour. You will not want to miss it!
We live in a Townhouse with an open concept. We have a small entryway that leads right into the living room. I fell in love with the beautiful floors!
As the steps are the first thing you see when you walk in, I like to decorate them. I placed mason jars filled with epsom salt & tea lights, decorated with pinecones.
When we first moved in last year, I added a gallery wall up the stairs. I updated a few of my signs with Christmas prints.
I hung our stockings from the shelf in the entryway, along with some faux greenery.
The downstairs has a nice open concept so I try to use the same color scheme throughout. I am decorating this year with a Winter Wonderland Theme. Think lots of sparkle, white lights, silver & white. It tends to flow better with the shades of blue that I normally decorate with. Plus, alot of it I can leave up after Christmas!
I hung a large banner over the buffet that holds my vintage Christmas Tree & Nativity.
I have lots of DIY projects in the house, such as this faux fur bench & pillow. Most of these have posts with tutorials so you can make your own if you like.
This armoire is my most favorite piece of furniture. It has pocket doors to hide our television. I kept it simple with a DIY faux fur wreath & a beautiful pinecone garland I picked up for 70% off!
I found this vintage birdcage at an art festival & placed a wreath at the base & a lantern inside with an LED candle. The candle has a remote so it’s easy to turn it on. I added a cute little bird to the top.
Can you tell I like lights? I have to say it is very cozy relaxing at night with the lights on! I don’t like to have to move things when we are watching television so I keep the coffee table simply decorated with a basket of pine cones & of course a Yankee candle.
I am so in love with my IKEA chair. It is seriously the most comfortable reading chair. I always keep a throw handy & how cute is the deer pillow from Craftberry Bush ?
Can you tell I like deer? Deer & Owls! I painted this Deer Silhouette a couple of years ago & look so forward to bringing him out each year. I leave him up all Winter without the Noel banner.
The tree is decorated with lots of ribbon, tulle & ornaments both collected & made. Every year I buy my children a new ornament representing some milestone that year, like getting their license or going off to College. My hope is to give them their box of ornaments on their Wedding day-yes I’m a little sentimental!
I used a faux fur rug from IKEA as the tree skirt. I tried desperately to stand the tree in the old washtub shown on the side of the tree, but it kept tipping over & I finally changed direction!
I had a large wreath that I used to hang over my garage & it fit perfectly by the tree. I just attached a Victorian Santa. I made the Dollar Tree Ornament Topiary last year.
On one side of the fireplace is our bar area. I just gave it a few touches of Christmas. My 24 year old son said I probably had enough lights, lol!
While I love the tree, I have to say, I am so happy with how the mantle turned out. I think it sets the theme for the Winter Wonderland look I was going for! See what I mean about Deer & Owls! The snow owl pillow is also from Craftberry Bush
I have been collecting Dept 56 houses for many years. I tried something different this year & showcased them in my hutch. It took some time but I love how they look.
The dining room is decorated in blue, silver & white. I made the antler swag last year & hung it over my antique window with ornaments which I also hung from the chandelier. I showed the quirky ironing board tree last week & it fits perfectly next to the window.
Here is a closeup of the sugarbush pinecone hanging on the back of the chair:
The kitchen is right off the dining room & I just added a few touches here & there.
This nutcracker is made entirely out of paper! The vintage scale I scored for $2.99 at Goodwill!
I love to update the chalkboard seasonally & try something new each year. I learned a tip for getting the chalk to be bright white. The key is to wet the end of the chalk & let it dry. Trust me it makes a big difference!
There is a powder room downstairs & my son lives in the finished basement. I tried to get my hands on his space, but he was not having it! I think he is over my decorating, lol! Luckily, I had my Master Bedroom to decorate & my daughter’s room. As she is at College, she couldn’t kick me out! Although at 19 she still likes when I decorate for her. The Master was what sold me on this home. It has beautiful cathedral ceilings & a half moon window that lets in great light. I spend a lot of time crafting & blogging in here so I wanted to create a retreat.
Here is my daughter’s room (it looks nothing like this when she is home 🙂 Thank you to Common Ground for sharing the beautiful Nativity scene. I simply printed it out, cut it & used glue dots to hang it to the chalkboard. You must see the beautiful glitter glass version she made!
I buy her a new nutcracker every year-again showing my annoying sentimental side!
I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to visit with me!
