Having a 17 yo driver in the family we seem to have an abundance of old tires (no offense Amanda). So I figured I’d put them to good use and make a tire planter. I drilled a few holes in the bottom of the tire and cleaned it up.

Next, I added a few coats of spray paint in a pretty brick red color. I finished it off with a couple of coats of clear coat to seal it. As it is still cool, I added a pot of pansies that I can bring in at night until it warms up, although it does say it can survive frost. I hung it on a tree that is visible as you drive up to our house.
It is hung with a plant hook. While, it may not be for everyone (in fact I do believe Sanford & Son was mentioned by my neighbor!) I love it! It makes me smile when I see it and it makes my daughter smile when she sees the tire that she used to take out my mailbox, lol!! Happy Saturday!
