Angel Ornament

You may have seen the DIY glass angel I shared on Facebook. In that post I showed a sneak peak of this gorgeous DIY vintage angel ornament.

I’m so happy to share the free printable angel with you.

Both the glass angel and this angel ornament would much a sentimental handmade gift for Christmas.

But, it could also be given as a thoughtful memorial craft for a loved one.

If you wanted to gift it as a memorial ornament, you could even add an image of a loved one to the back of the ornament. Either way, this is sure to be a cherished keepsake for years to come.

Here is another DIY ornament craft using angel wings.

Supplies

  • Flat Sphere Ornament – I found white ones at Dollar Tree in the Christmas section. You can also use the clear ones, but the image shows up much better on white. If you can’t find them at Dollar Tree here is a set of 24 on Amazon for $13.99, or 58 cents each!
  • Mod Podge – I used matte
  • Foam Brush
  • Gold Metallic Paint
  • Glamour Dust
  • Paper Cutter or scissors
  • Free Vintage Angel Printable – download at the bottom of this post
  • Ribbon for hanging
  • Rubbing Alcohol and paper towels – to clean the ornament

Decoupage crafts are one of my favorite crafting techniques, especially when paired with Dollar Tree supplies. The possibilities are truly endless!

If you want to order online at Dollar Tree, you can get 50% off shipping with code TINSEL24.

Step 1. Clean the Ornament

Clean the ornament with rubbing alcohol to remove any fingerprints or dust.

Step 2. Determine Image Placement

Place the image on the ornament to determine the placement and trim to size.

I use a paper cutter to cut the image as close to the edge as possible, then use craft scissors to cut around the details. These paper snips from Cricut work great!

Try and get as close to the image as possible to achieve more of a 3-D effect.

Step 3. Add Mod Podge

Use a foam brush to add mod podge directly to the ornament where the image will be placed.

Step 4. Secure Image to Ornament

Place the image on the ornament where the mod podge is. Smooth it down to remove any wrinkles.

Step 5. Add Glitter

I’m a big fan of glitter and have been using this glamour dust on just about all of my holiday crafts this season.

Simply paint a layer of mod podge where you want the glitter to be.

It really takes the angel design to the next level.

Step 6. Paint topper gold

The topper was silver and I chose to paint it with gold metallic paint to blend better with the colors in the angel.

Add a ribbon for hanging and this beauty is ready to hang or gift. I went with a pretty velvet ribbon leftover from my gingerbread themed Christmas tree.

Here are a few images of it hanging on the tree so you can see how gorgeous it looks!
