How To Achieve A Stained Glass Look On Plain Glass Bottles

Let me show you how to easily turn plain glass bottles, of any shape and size, into beautiful aqua blue beauties, with a stained glass look.

How to turn plain glass into pretty blue vintage style

Welcome friends! Today is our monthly Create With Me challenge hosted by Samantha from Little Bits of Home.

At the start of each month, we ask YOU to vote on what material we should use in our next Create With Me Challenge. Then we share our projects using the material you voted for!

It is so much fun to see what everyone comes up with! This month you voted for glass jars, which I was routing for!

For some reason I tend to have a lot of glass  jars and vases that I pick up at thrift stores or flea markets.

As I love to decorate in shades of blue, I gathered several glass jars from my collection and decided to try a stained glass effect. Here is the finished project and then I’ll share what I used:

Supplies

krylon spray paint

I wanted the glass to have an almost opaque look so I used a very light hand when spray painting. You can certainly make it darker if you want. The color is just beautiful and it was so easy to achieve the stained glass look.

I used four mason jars in a thrift store basket for a great Spring centerpiece:

Demijohns can be very costly. Old wine bottle jugs are an inexpensive knockoff. These are probably my favorite:

I wanted a coastal look so I simply wrapped twine around the top with starfish. Here they are on my Mantel:
