How To Make A DIY Demijohn Lamp

Sharing is caring!

Make your own DIY Demijohn Lamp for under $10 with just a few supplies. The project can be made in about 30 minutes. Quick and easy crafts are the best!

I wanted to share a DIY Demijohn lamp that I just finished. I picked up this great old moonshine jug at Job Lot for $5! It looks very similar to the demijohns sold at Ballard’s for much more than $5!

I needed a lamp for my bedroom & knew this would be the perfect size. I bought a lamp kit from Lowes and followed the directions to have the cord outside the lamp.

If you are really handy you can drill a hole in the bottom of the glass & place the cord on the inside, but I am not so I left it out. I have to thank my co-worker Ryan who assisted with the lamp kit, as I had a little trouble with the wiring.

I think the next time I will buy the light kit that is already put together, lol!  Once the light was ready, I took an old shade that I picked up at a thrift store & decoupaged it with this beautiful paper to go with the colors in my room.

It looks great on my nightstand.

The total price was $10! Now look at the demijohn price alone at Ballards:

The possibilities are endless with these great finds! They also have red, orange & purple. My mind is racing with ideas! I’m sure I will be showing more projects with these $5 steals.

Hmmm… how about red vases for 4th of July? I really want to make one with a burlap shade. I think that would look really cool!

I converted a couple of demijohn's to lamps, too, but your lampshade turned out so much better! Mine were all wrinkly. :(

Thanks Audra. I have had that happen with Modge Podge too. I used less on this project initially & once it was dry, I went back & gave it another coat to seal it. It seemed to work better. Have a good day! Michelle
