Today I’m sharing tips on how to decorate your mantel at the start of the fall season. It’s not quite time for mums yet, but you are ready for fall!
I had to label this “early neutral fall” because I know I will add some pumpkins somewhere but it is a little too early in the Season. The mantel is my favorite to decorate for any Holiday or Season.
I typically host Thanksgiving & like to have the pumpkins until then. I have always decorated for fall in classic fall colors, like oranges & burgundy’s. This went well in my old home, but I completely changed my color scheme when I moved & I feel natural, lighter colors work best here.
I didn’t want to buy anything new, as I do have alot of fall decorations, so luckily I had some silver spray paint left from my recent projects. I painted a Dollar Tree pumpkin & some fall garland.
I wanted the garland to still show some of the undertones so I only did a light coat. I started collecting owls at some point. I used to be afraid of them, but the last couple of years I fell in love with them & before I knew it I had a collection!
I added a few to the mantel, along with some cotton stems from last season, the DIY demi-john I made last year and this beautiful coral I found at Kohl’s of all places. I kept it very simple & just added a few silver leaves to the burlap bubble wreath.
I am very proud of the DIY pumpkin pillow as it is my first time painting a pumpkin! The backside of this no-sew pillow has the American Flag I painted for the Fourth. Love to use both sides. I think a few pumpkins will look good on the hearth with a mum. That will just complete it!
