Hello and welcome to our monthly Farmhouse Hens Challenge. This month’s challenge is all about Thrift Store Makeovers. If you’ve visited here before, you know that is one of my favorite things! Check out this Thrift Store Table I found at my favorite shop:

You ready for the price? Keep in mind it was 50% off the listed price:
You are seeing right! The marked price was $9.99, so this little table with beautiful legs was $5! That is why I love thrift store shopping. You never know what you will find. It’s definitely hit or miss. Some days I go and leave empty handed, but days like this makes it worth it. All this baby needed was a little love. Let’s see the after:
Now let me show you how easy it was to update this Thrift Store Table!
How To Easily Update A Thrift Store Table With Milk Paint
Supplies
FolkArt Milk Paint Bonding Primer and Sealer
FolkArt Milk Paint, Winter Harbour
Daddy Van’s All Natural Beeswax & Lavender Furniture Polish
While I was browsing Hobby Lobby I saw these Folk Art Paints on clearance and they had a gorgeous aqua blue color called Winter Harbour, so I scooped them up for this table.

Whenever I buy a thrift store piece I always give it a good cleaning first. Next, I gave the entire piece one coat of the bonding primer and sealer. I followed the directions and let it dry for an hour prior to adding the milk paint.
The second I added the first stroke of paint I knew I would love this color! It is just a soft, calming shade of aqua. It looks white in the pictures, but in person you can see the pretty color.
Again I gave it one coat, let it dry and then gave it a second coat. I really think the bonding primer made a difference, as the milk paint adhered perfectly! I gave it a little sanding around the edges and a couple of coats of Daddy Van’s Beeswax, which gave it a great shine!
With the table costing $5 and the paint $4, this beautiful thrift store table makeover was under $10! I am so happy with the finished piece and I hope you are inspired to makeover your own thrift store table!
