Welcome to this month’s Dollar Store Divas monthly challenge where I’m sharing adorable burlap and leopard fabric acorns made with dollar store plastic eggs.

Aren’t they so cute? If you follow me on instagram you may have seen the gnome pine cone ornaments I made.

I collected about three baskets of pine cones from my yard, so get ready for lots of pine cone crafts! 

A small bag sells for about $5 at the craft store, so I’m so thankful I was able to gather these for free.

With the holidays coming my mind is spinning with ideas.

Before I get to the tutorial for these cuties, I have some exciting news.

When I popped into Dollar Tree last week, I spotted a leopard scarf.

I love me some leopard, so I scooped up a couple.

You never know when you will need a little leopard!

I wasn’t sure what I was going to make for this month’s Thanksgiving-themed challenge.

While I love to decorate for fall, I don’t decorate specifically with a Thanksgiving theme.

Although last year I did make this cute turkey sign.

I have a Thanksgiving tablescape blog hop coming up next week, so I thought it would be fun to make some fabric acorns to use as place tags at each setting.

Let me show you how simple these little acorns are to make.

Supplies Needed For Leopard Fabric Acorns

• Leopard Scarf – Dollar Tree
• Twine – Dollar Tree
• Plastic Easter Eggs – Dollar Tree
• Hot Glue Gun 
• Burlap

You can use whatever type of fabric you like, but I thought the burlap and leopard were perfect for fall acorns.

Step 1. Separate the plastic eggs

Separate the plastic eggs and add a little hot glue to keep them closed.

Step 2. Cover the egg with scarf

Place the egg on the leopard scarf and cut enough fabric to cover the entire egg.

Step 3. Gather the fabric

Bring the sides of the fabric up and gather them together. Tie with a piece of twine.

Step 4. Cut excess fabric

Cut the excess fabric off with fabric scissors.

Step 5. Attach twine

Wrap twine around the top of the egg and secure with hot glue. 

Step 6. Break up pine cones

Break up pine cones and hot glue them around the top quarter of the plastic egg. 

Step 7. Glue stem

Snip the stem off the pine cone and glue it to the top of the egg.

Step 8. Decorate

Decorate with your fabric acorns! See how easy that was? 

You can add a little name tag tied with twine to the top of the acorn.

I will share a picture of the burlap ones used in my Thanksgiving tablescape next week. 

You can also add ribbon to make these ornaments. Wouldn’t buffalo check ones be cute?

Add several to a pretty bowl with pine cones for simple fall decor.

There are so many uses. I may even add a little gold metallic to the pine cone top for some bling!
