Learn how to make a fun beach themed fairy garden, using colored sand, complete with a little mermaid.
This is something you can create with the kids or just for yourself! Living in New England we are dealing with freezing temperatures and snow, so I am dreaming of sandy beaches and sunshine.
I was browsing the craft store the other day and saw they had an entire aisle dedicated to fairy gardens. I couldn’t believe the incredible variety.
My daughter’s favorite movie when she was younger was The Little Mermaid.
Honestly, I think I liked it just as much as her! When I saw this little mermaid I knew it would be perfect for a Beach Themed Fairy Garden.

Here is what you need to create your own:
Beach Themed Fairy Garden Supplies
- 4 bags of colored sand found here
- Small Rocks
- Mermaid, Seagull & shells
- Faux Plant
- Glass Containers
Slowly pour the sand in the container of your choice. I love being able to see the different layers of colored sand as shown below:
Then just add your mermaid, seagull and shell and whatever items you like. You can add a layer of white rocks like I did or just leave it as is.
Just have fun with it and let your inner child out. Here is a small glass teacup I also made just adding a real succulent-hopefully I won’t kill it.
