This is my first time attending such an event so I wanted to ensure I had plenty of business cards to hand out for networking.
I ordered new cards updating all of my social media information. Of course I needed a pretty business card holder to go along with my cards.
Being a crafter I wanted to make my own. However, I knew it needed to be made out of something strong enough to hold up to being thrown around in my pocketbook.
As I was browsing Michael’s for ideas, I found a section with 8 1/2″X11″ leather sheets, however, one sheet was $9.99. Way out of my price range.
This was exactly what I wanted, so I browsed the store for other options. Luckily there were leather planners on clearance at 80% off.
Here is the planner:

It was made out of beautiful leather and under $4-score! I knew I could use the leather to make a couple of business card holders and reuse the planner for something else.
How To Make A Leather Business Card Holder
Here are the supplies needed so you can make your own:
- Button-stud or brad & velcro
- Leather
- Cardcase template (see below)
- Mini hole-punch
- Fabric Scissors
Print out the template and trace along your piece of leather as shown below:
Cut the leather with a good pair of scissors. I used my fabric scissors. Fold the leather into an envelope shape and use a small hole punch to punch a hole in two corners and the center:
Add your button stud to the center of the leather envelope to hold all the sides together. As I didn’t have a button stud, I used a brad to hold it together with velcro to allow for easy opening.
The rhinestone at the center gives it a little bling. I wanted to personalize it with my blog name and just happened to have leather letter stamps from my early crafting days.
However, this is totally optional. I just loved the little bumblebee so added that to the corner as well! Sit back and admire your beautiful leather business card holder!
