Coffee Table Makeover
Today I’m sharing this elegant coffee table makeover. If you’ve visited Our Crafty Mom before you know I’m very blessed to have my Dad who seems to have a knack for finding amazing curbside rescues.
He found this gorgeous Bassett-yes Bassett-coffee table with beautiful shell detailing.
This was literally left on the side of the road! I can’t believe the things people throw away.
I really feel they get bored with a piece and just want a change, but seriously, as we all know, paint can totally revive a piece!
Look at this beautiful table:
I love the detail on the drawer front and it is such a solid piece. I just finished a dresser with Pure & Original Paint and loved the color, as well as the finish.
I really felt this paint would be perfect to give this coffee table an elegant, updated feel.
The color is called Pigeon Grey and is such a classic grey that it really can be considered a neutral color.
As with any thrifted find, I gave the entire piece a good cleaning. This is a chalk based paint and no primer is needed, which I just love!
I gave it two coats of paint which is perfect coverage.
I was going to leave well enough alone, but I really liked the look of the prior piece I did with a clear and dark wax, so I did the same process to this piece.
I also used the same beautiful damask paper to line the side of the drawer. It really finishes the piece off.
I wish I had room to keep this table, as I am so in love with it, but it will go to the shop and hopefully find a new home.
The quality of this Bassett coffee table is just stunning.

I really like the subtle dark wax finish! What kind of wax do you use?
