Peanut Butter Cup Trifle

My entire family absolutely loves peanut butter and chocolate-my son especially.

Whenever we have a family party or summer barbecue, my dad always asks if I can make a trifle. He loves this one, as well as a heath bar crunch version.

I’ve shared this recipe before with other holiday recipes, but it definitely deserves it’s own post, so I freshened it up when I made it again for Father’s Day.

Ingredients for Peanut Butter Cup Trifle

There is a printable recipe card included at the bottom of this post so be sure to read to the end for that. It makes it so much easier!

  • 2 boxes of dark chocolate brownie mix
  • 2 large boxes of instant chocolate pudding
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 2 containers of cool whip
  • large bag of peanut butter cups
  • chocolate syrup

Step 1. Bake the brownies

Bake the brownies according to the directions on the box. You can use your favorite brand of brownies.

I prefer to use dark chocolate because it is so rich, but mix it up to find your favorite. You can even use peanut butter brownies for a twist.

Step 2. Add the peanut butter cups

While warm, place a layer of peanut butter cups  across the top. The peanut butter cups slightly melt into the brownies for that amazing flavor we love!

Step 3. Cut the brownies and start the layers

Let the brownies cool. Cut into small squares and place a layer of brownies in the bottom of the trifle bowl. I love this nylon knife perfect for cutting brownies.

Step 4. Prepare the pudding

Mix the pudding according to the directions until smooth. Add in a cup of peanut butter.

Mix with a container of cool whip until it is nice & fluffy.

Once it is set, place a thick layer over the brownies.

Step 5. Add peanut butter cups

Cut up several peanut butter cups and add a layer of those.

Now you want to drizzle chocolate syrup over top.

Continue layering the ingredients

Repeat the process with the layers.

3 layers is perfect for a standard glass trifle bowl. Be sure to use a glass bowl to showcase the layers.

It is best to make this the night before so it has time to set. It is so yummy, especially if you are a peanut butter and chocolate lover.

Enjoy your mouth watering trifle!!
