Refinished Chair With Americana Chalk Paint

Sharing is caring!

Welcome to Our Crafty Mom! Today I am sharing a refinished chair with Americana Chalk Paint.

If you’ve visited Our Crafty Mom before, you know I love a trash to treasure project.

I used a beautiful white color called Everlasting. It’s one of my favorites, because it’s so versatile.

I’ve used it many times before. I was lucky enough to get this gorgeous chair for free from my Sister. It just needed a little love.

I wanted to give the chair a French Country look, so I used a classic  blue ticking cotton duck fabric to reupholster the seat.

You will see in the before photo that the fabric was in desperate need of an update.

I gave the chair two coats of chalk paint, then finished it off with Americana Deep Brown Wax.

I used a small amount of wax-wiping it on with an old rag-then wiping it off until I had the shade I liked.

It’s amazing how much more noticeable the gorgeous rosette is now. I lightly distressed the edges with a fine grit sandpaper to give it an aged look.

I know I say it a lot, but I’ll say it again-the power of paint. This chair is now given a new lease on life.

It has the French Country feel I was going for, but is neutral enough to fit into any decor style.

I may use this as a vanity chair in my bedroom. I am so happy with how this refinished chair turned out & look forward to my next update.

I have another chair that my Sister also gave me and plan something completely different planned. Come back next week to see the reveal.

Wow! Your redo of this gorgeous chair is really something wonderful. I love that rose and the upholstery you chose. You have done a fabulous job. I have a little French Provincial nightstand I would like to redo. Any suggestions? It is currently a light fruitwood finish. I have an old kitchen chair that belonged to my parental grandparents. In fact, one of my cousins had a picture of that chair from our grandparents home years ago! When our youngest daughter (age 24) was a small child she carved her name in the wood and I am not sure I want to cover that up. I am getting excited for the warmer weather so I can do some projects outdoors. Thank you for sharing and enjoy your weekend. Hugs!

Hi Anne! Your French Provincial table sounds lovely. Not sure what your color scheme is but you can't go wrong with chalk paint & antique wax-especially on that style. I don't think I would cover up the chair with your daughters name-some things are too precious to change & that sounds like one! Have a great week!
