THRIFTED  GHOST PAINTING HALLOWEEN ART

Have you seen all the cool ghost paintings all over social media? They are so fun to paint and easier than you think to make. Today, I'll share easy tips for what type of thrift store art to look for and how to paint your own ghost and spooky art!

SUPPLIES FOR THRIFTED GHOST HALLOWEEN ART

– DecoArt Acrylic Paint in White, Black, Rust, Orange, Yellow, Burgundy, Gray – Assorted Paint Brushes – Thrift Store Painting – Foam Brush

STEP 1. PAINT THE GHOSTS

Start with a very fine paint brush and a light coat of paint. Pour some white paint on a paper plate and dab the brush into the paint. Start at the top of the ghost head and work your way down.

STEP 2. REPEAT THE PROCESS

Paint 2-3 coats of white paint on the ghost, letting it dry between coats. Repeat for the second coat.

STEP 3. ADD GHOST EYES AND A WITCH HAT

Use a black sharpie to add a couple of dots to each ghost for the eyes. You can also use black acrylic paint and a fine brush to paint a witch hat on each ghost.

STEP 4. PAINT DETAILS IN DARK COLORS

Start painting over the flowers and plants with fall colored paint. A kitchen sponge cut in quarters works great for flowers. Lightly dab on the paint and “pounce” over the tree. Add extra detail with a small paint brush.

STEP 5. ADD SHADING

Go back in and add some gray paint for shading. Mix in a little black paint and create texture and dimension. It makes such a difference and gives a 3-d effect to the ghosts.

STEP 6. ADD SPOOKY DETAILS

This is where you can experiment and add cute or spooky details, like spiderwebs with spiders hanging down and a black cat. Have fun with it!
