5 Easy Ways To Refresh Your Living Room For Summer
Artwork
You know all those beautiful photos you take on your phone, but never really do anything with? I’ll be honest, I probably have over 3,000 on my phone! So I was thrilled when Canvas On The Cheap asked if I wanted to partner with them! The timing was perfect as my daughter recently graduated from College and I really wanted something special to commemorate this special moment. What is better than a family photo?
Transferring photos to canvas is extremely popular and you can create beautiful canvas art with your own photos. The photo of the two of us immediately after the Graduation Ceremony is one of my favorites and is perfect to hang in my bedroom. This photo really captures how extremely proud I was and how happy (and probably glad school was over) my daughter was! I was amazed at the detail in the canvas. It really is so much more detailed than just framing a photo.
I love how the canvas is mirror wrapped so it continues the photo around the side of the canvas. Why not update your Summer living room with a favorite photo transferred to canvas from your Summer vacation? I have one from the Grand Canyon that I would love to transfer! The great thing about Canvas On The Cheap is you get a quality canvas at a great value. You can check out all the prices and sizes on their website here. They are so reasonable that you could change it out with a Fall and Christmas one as well! There is nothing like family photos to make your house a home! Also, what a great gift this would make for the grandparents.
Pillows
One of my favorite ways to refresh the living room is to change out the pillows. It is amazing what a difference this makes. You don’t have to buy new pillows either. You can purchase pillow covers for a great price at most home stores or online. I like to stencil them as well for the different seasons like the Farmers Market pillow that you can see here.
The plain linen pillow covers are inexpensive and neutral so they pretty much go with any decor. Take a look at these colorful and no-sew pillows that I added to my Spring Living Room:
But if you don’t want to make your own, check out these beautiful Summer pillows at a great price:
Fresh Flowers
One of the most inexpensive ways to bring Summer into your living room is to have fresh flowers on the table. If you are lucky enough to have peonies or roses in your yard, cut a few of those and place them in a simple mason jar for a great look. My favorite place to buy fresh flowers is Trader Joe’s. Have you ever looked at their floral section? Seriously, for $3.99 you can get a beautiful bunch of seasonal flowers.
The rhododendrons that I cut from my yard and placed on my Summer mantel really add a gorgeous pop of color and they were free! You can’t beat that.

Curtains
Now you may think that it is expensive to change out curtains for Summer, but you can get pretty sheer curtains that are beautiful for a great price at home stores. They really make a difference. Look at how much brighter and open my dining room looks with white sheers compared to the blue curtains I had up before:
I still love the blue curtains, and you may have noticed in the pillow section above, that they are in my living room now. I am constantly moving things from one room to the next. That is another inexpensive way to refresh your home. I talk about “shopping your home” often, because it doesn’t cost a penny and you’ll be amazed at how different items can look in another room. Both pairs of curtains were purchased from Target and they are having 30% off right now. Don’t you just love a good sale?
Accents
A very simple and easy ways to update your living room for Summer is to change out your accent pieces. For example, simply update the decorative items on your coffee table. When you think of Summer what is the first thing you think of? For me it’s the beach and seashells!
The next time you are at the beach gather some seashells and place them in vases with a little sand for a fun centerpiece. If you don’t live near a beach you can actually buy bags of seashells at the dollar store!
Also, if you like seashells, check out this easy DIY SeaShell Wreath:

I love your ideas, they are so refreshing and warm! I miss summer, it's winter here in Australia, and the warm sun and the beach are something that seems very far away. I will definitely try some of these when the season arrives though, they seem like a cool thing to do with my daughter, she loves DIY.
