Annie Sloan Rocking Chair Makeover With History

Sharing is caring!

This rocking chair holds a lot of great memories for me. When I found out I was pregnant with my first child I bought this rocker for $20 at an antique store.

I waited until I knew if I was having a boy or a girl to paint it. When I found out it was a boy I painted it fire engine red.

I had know idea at the time how much I would be using this rocker as my beautiful baby boy was born early and had a tough start.

The first seven months all I did was rock him or take him for car rides. It was the only way he would sleep.

He is now 22 and I still see the fighter in him, determined to get his first novel published, as he is an incredible writer.

The rocking chair was then repainted soft baby pink when I found out I was having a baby girl. She always had an independent spirit so it got less use until she began climbing up and “reading” books upside down at 18 months old.

Her love of books continues as she prepares for College next year. When their were no more babies to rock I repainted it burgundy and stenciled flowers as you see below for my living room.

I gave it an update now with my favorite Annie Sloan old white and transferred a graphic from my favorite Graphic Fairy.

My children continue to use this chair that I rocked them in as babies and when I look over sometimes and see them sitting in it, I can’t help thinking back to those days.

I know someday I will be using this same chair to rock my grand babies.
