Sharing is caring!
I am finally finished decorating & can now enjoy all the hard work. I love sitting in the living room at night with the Christmas lights on, the fire going, a glass of wine & my ipad. So serene & relaxing.
Lots of DIY projects and little vignettes throughout. If anyone has any questions on any of the DIY projects, please email me, however, most have been shown in prior posts. Merry Christmas!
As you enter, you are greeted by a vintage sled with a pair of old ice skates, as well as a DIY “Believe” sign. I like to use what I already have on hand & simply filled the claypots that were already out with faux greens & pinecones. I have little solar lights in the pots as well.
CHRISTMAS HOUSE TOUR 2014
I went with a non traditional wreath for the front door & love how it shows up. With the door being green I wanted something to pop & the silver mesh does the trick. You enter into a small entryway that I made good use of with a little bench & shelf. I showed the gallery wall going up the stairs & just updated a couple of things.
This goes into the open living/dining room. I continued with the silver, white & gold theme. I just showed this white faux fur bench that I finished last week & am so in love with the beautiful deer pillow I purchased from Lucy at https://www.craftberrybush.com/
The armoire holds our television, which I love being able to hide! I added faux greens to the top with white lights & this beautiful Merry & Bright canvas banner which I received in the Elfster gift exchange this year. I collect Santa’s & have had this Santa for about 20 years. The grandfather clock works & it holds a cassette tape that plays Santa reading ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas. I have so many wonderful memories of my kids sitting around him listening to the story during the Holidays. My 18 y.o. daughter will
still play it! I added a large poinsettia to the wrought iron planter
along with moss balls to the hanging planter. I found this vintage birdcage for a song (pun intended) and added ornaments and greens along with these great candles from Decor Steals that are on timers. Love coming home to them lit up & no danger of fire.
The mantel is next & really is the centerpiece in the room.
I love being able to update items purchased from The Dollar Tree & picked up these Christmas houses that were traditional colors & simply painted them silver and white. I love the garland that I found last year as it almost looks like icicles, especially when lit. The mantel is anchored by the DIY Ornament Topiary’s that I shared as well. But, the star of the show is definitely the DIY Deer Silhouette that I made last year. I named him Buck & I think he looks so regal over the mantel. I will probably keep him out all
winter.
The hearth holds a couple more Santa’s, the one on the right handpainted & made out of wood.
The tree is a slim line tree that I bought a couple of years ago on a Black Friday deal. I have collected ornaments for 25 years & always add new ones to signify some event during the year. I love the two I have from the kids getting their driver’s license. My plan is to pass these on to them when they get married & hopefully they will continue the tradition with their children.
This is another simple, DIY project from The Dollar Tree using a foam wreath & beads that I simply wrapped around. I did use about 7 or 8 though.
One of my buffets holds more of my Santa collection, as well as the DIY Peace blocks I showed previously. I love Mr. & Mrs. Clause sharing hot chocolate!
I didn’t want to obstruct our view so I left the coffee table simple with a beautiful lantern & glass jar with a tree and snow on a silver platter. Love the look of mercury glass. I also painted these little deer candleholders that I picked up at Yankee Candle on clearance last year. They were black & of course I wanted silver!
I keep this frame with chicken wire & coffee filter wreath up & just change out the center. At Thanksgiving I had a “gratitude” banner & for Christmas I added this silver star.
This buffet sits in the living room as well & holds an antique nativity and a Dept 56 Caroler that my dear friend Elaine gave me.
I decided not to put out all my Dept 56 houses this year as I was a little behind decorating & it is so much to set them all up just to take them down, so I just displayed a few in a vignette in the living room. I love using the cake stand as a way to add height.
Moving on to the dining room I stuck with the same color scheme as it is open to the living room. One of my favorite pieces is the DIY swag with deer sheds that I painted silver. It fits perfectly over the old window my Dad gave me. I guess you can tell I kind of have a thing for Deer!
The kitchen is off the dining room & I set up a little vignette with this gorgeous Santa. How cute is this little snowman (girl) that I placed in a glass jar with snow?
I changed out the sunflowers in the blue mason jars with floating cranberries & fresh greens.
This nutcracker is made entirely out of paper! I picked up this antique scale at goodwill for $2.99-love a find like that!
Another simple vignette in the hallway along with a DIY chalkboard that was previously a mirror from a bureau. I made a simple tree & added real ornaments for a 3-d effect. I will leave this up and change out the designs. I like to use this as a menu board as well for all those fancy meals I make 😉
I have a surprise in my daughter’s room when she comes home from College next week. I also will post pics of my master bedroom as I am very happy with how it turned out. It is the space I have always wanted & I feel very blessed!
