Make an adorable pumpkin topiary with dollar store pumpkins and paint.
It’s officially fall-well in my home anyway!! It is never fun to bring up the fall boxes and sort through stuff, but it is definitely fun to decorate!
I have lots of blog hops coming up soon including a fall mantel hop and a fall home tour with over 30 bloggers!
I hope you will stop by and visit over the next couple of weeks to see!

When I decorate my mantel I try to change it up each year, partly because I get bored and also so you can see different ideas and options.
I am always mindful of a budget and am thankful that I like to craft so I can make things inexpensively.
Today I will show you how super simple it is to make the white pumpkin topiary in the above picture.
You’re also getting a sneak peek of my fall mantel! Here is what you need:
DIY Dollar Store Pumpkin Topiary
- 3 Dollar Store foam pumpkins
- Deco Art Americana Chalky Finish Paint
- DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paint
- Foam Stencil Brush
- Container to fit pumpkins
You can paint the pumpkins whatever color you like, but I love white pumpkins so I went with white chalk paint.
Give each pumpkin two solid coats of paint. Next, take the foam brush and add the brown paint sparingly to give it some texture.
I use paper clips to attach the pumpkins together. I showed you how in a wreath I made last year here:
I made two of these to anchor the mantel and the pumpkins fit snugly in each container, so I didn’t even have to use hot glue.
This is also great because if I want to use the containers for something else I can.
The ironstone container was the perfect size and height that I needed. My only cost for two topiaries was $6 for the pumpkins!
You can’t beat that! I used a stick for the stem and it really makes a difference. The stem on the original pumpkin made it look kind of tacky.
