Happy New Year! I am thrilled to be starting out the New Year sharing a wonderful product that you will just love! It is Modern Masters and it is so cool! This country nightstand is about 20 years old. It is a great solid table, but it was feeling a little too country for my current style. Also, I wanted to give it a pop of color. Modern Masters to the rescue! This end table will be used in my bedroom as a nightstand. Wait until you see how easy it is to create a gorgeous patina that looks like it took some serious talent to achieve! Thank you Modern Masters!!
Before
See-a perfectly fine end table, but nothing to write home about.
After
Hello beautiful!! Can you believe this is the same end table? I am so in love with it! The look I wanted to achieve was something really cool and unique and that is exactly what I got! I went with the 2 oz. Metal Effects Kits which is perfect for small projects.
As I have a blue color scheme I chose to go with the blue patina and it is just gorgeous. This oxidizing finish kit can transform any paintable surface in just minutes. There are three color choices-a green patina, blue patina, or rust finish. Each kit comes with easy to follow directions and covers up to 2 sq. ft. Let’s look at the 3 easy steps I followed to achieve this Craft Table Makeover.
Step 1 Prime It
Metal Effects Primer can be applied to clean metal, wood, masonry, plaster and previously painted surfaces. Stir the primer well with the included stir stick. Apply 2 coats (wait approx. ½ hour between coats) of Metal Effects Primer with the included chip brush. Allow primer to dry for about 12 hours. I let it dry overnight. Here it is the next morning after two coats.
Step 2 Paint It
Stir the Oxidizing Bronze Paint before using with the included stir stick. Apply the first coat with the chip brush included and let it dry (approx. 1/2 hour). Next, apply a second coat of the Bronze Paint and while the paint is still wet, proceed to Step 3.
Step 3 Oxidize It With Aging Solution
Spray on a LIGHT coat of the Blue Patina Aging Solution over the entire area while the paint is still wet. Be sure not to go to heavy to avoid streaking. If you do have streaking, simply blot with a clean cotton rag. This is where the magic happens as you will begin to see the paint oxidize right before your eyes! It turns into the most beautiful blue patina you ever did see! This is about 15 minutes into it. It really is such a cool process.

I love it. I am happy to see a large piece of furniture with a patina finish. Yours turned out really, really nice. I used this same kit and love how it transforms from ordinary to extraordinary within hours.

What a difference! I love how it turned out. I've never done this type of metallic project, but I'm going to have to give it a try!

What a cool cabinet/end table. I love how it kept a lot of its rustic charm with the modern metallic makeover. It turned out great. :) Thanks for sharing and being such an awesome host at the #HomeMattersParty
