Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest OFMP Armoire

Sharing is caring!

This post is sponsored by Old Fashioned Milk Paint Co. in the form of paints.  Although this post is sponsored all the opinions are my own. I only promote product I believe in!

I am so excited to share that the July Fab Furniture Flippin Contest™ is sponsored by  Old Fashioned Milk Paint (OFMP) . I just shared my first project with this paint as a Brand Ambassador Blogger and love it!   Old Fashioned Milk Paint Co. is the first original true milk paint on the market since 1974. I love the history of this company. I also love that it contains only ingredients that are all-natural and will not harm the environment, making it truly a “green paint”.

The OFMP is packaged in a dry powder form. You don’t need to use primer, just add water and mix to your desired amount of paint (a pint, quart or a gallon).  For this project I decided to use soldier blue and snow white. Isn’t this packaging awesome?  Love the little brown bags!

The theme for this month’s #fabflippincontest is Farmhouse Fun! That is right up my alley!  Here is the piece I will be working on:

This Armoire was one of the first significant pieces we bought about 25 years ago. It really is a gorgeous piece of furniture with pocket doors and beautiful molding along the top. However, after 25 years of the knotty pine finish, I wanted to give it a change. What better way than with Old Fashioned Milk Paint!  This is an entertainment armoire built to hold the television and even has an outlet in the back and tons of space on the bottom for VHS tapes, lol! At one point this housed all of my kids VHS tapes, so there is a lot of history with this piece. I didn’t decide to paint this overnight. I have been thinking about it for a long time and when this challenge came up, I really felt like OFMP would do it justice.

Drumroll please….

I am seriously in love with this gorgeous armoire again! I gave it two coats of snow white paint, mixed with extra-bond to ensure coverage. If you want the chippy look, you can leave the extra-bond out. I wanted to give it a little contrast so for the doors inside the molding I mixed Soldier Blue with Snow White to create this gorgeous soft blue color. I just painted inside the molding and trim and love the pop of color it gives. This flows beautifully with the color scheme in my living room.  Here is a close up of this gorgeous color:

This really is so easy to create just adding snow white to the soldier blue. I didn’t even measure, just kept adding the powder until I achieved the shade I wanted. It is such a beautiful serene shade of blue! I did add a dark wax to give it an aged finish. I went a little heavier around the trim and mouldings.
