Grain Sack Stripe Painted Bench With Velvet Finishes

Sharing is caring!

Let me show you how to refinish an old Deacon’s bench with a grain sack stripe and Velvet Finishes paint.

Welcome to the Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest for November.

This month our sponsor is Velvet Finishes and I am so excited to share my Grain Sack Stripe Painted Bench with you!

This is my first time painting with Velvet Finishes and let me tell you, the name “Velvet” is perfect for this paint.

It goes on so smooth and you literally can just slap the paint on and there are no brush strokes.

It is that smooth! This paint is low-VOC and requires no sanding or priming making prep so easy.

The theme for this month is “Colour Your World”. Check out the gorgeous colors:

I received product from Velvet Finishes in exchange for this post, however, all opinions expressed are 100% my own. I only promote product I believe in.

I decorate with lots of blues and neutrals and was immediately drawn to Handsome and Rococo:

My Dad found this beautiful Deacon’s Bench at a yard sale for a song and the quality is amazing.

However, it was not my style so I knew it would be the perfect piece for this contest.

Look at all that deep storage-perfect for my collection of shoes! 🙂

This Painted Bench came together so easily.

I used two coats of Handsome for the main color and simply taped off the stripes with painter’s tape using Rococo for the stripes.

The paint goes on like a dream and the coverage is amazing! I kept the inside of the bench in its natural cedar state.

I plan to use this for storage at the foot of my bed and can’t wait to get it set up in its new home.

I am actually visiting family in New Hampshire and painted this in the hotel room, which is the reason for the lovely carpet you see.
