HANDMADE ANGEL WINGS & DOVE ORNAMENTS

Sharing is caring!

I wanted to share the handmade angel wings and dove ornaments I made. I like to give handmade ornaments each year as a little something extra to my family & friends. Sometimes I’ll attach it to the gift, or incorporate it with homemade candy or cookies for coworkers.

Being a single Mom with a daughter in College I have had to scale back on my Holiday budget-being a giver this is not easy for me. However, I find when I take the time to make a gift it means more to both the person on the receiving end, as well as myself, and less about how much was spent.

In fact, now my nieces & sisters look forward to seeing what type of ornament I will make each year. Of course, I try every year to come up with something new & personal. Last year I painted glass ornaments with chalkboard paint & personalized them with a milestone the person may have had-for example, my daughter making Dean’s List & my Son completing his first novel.

This year our family has gone through so much change, I wanted to incorporate something peaceful & serene. Angel Wings mean so much to our family having lost our Mom to cancer when she was only 47. Plus, her favorite song ever was “The Wind Beneath My Wings” by Bette Midler. I just did a google search for that song & these two images stood out:

I decided to make angel wings & doves. I have been playing around with several different variations & am not sure what I will ultimately go with, but I’m leaning towards the first three below.

I always write the year on the back. I used all kinds of pretty paper, fabric, glitter, some faux fur, even a pretty shabby chic version with muslin. I know it i’ts early, but I really only have weekends to “create” so Christmas will be here before you know it!
