Ralph Lauren Christmas Decor
You can’t help but notice the viral Ralph Lauren Christmas trend this year. It is all over social media and in just about any home store that you step into.
There is a reason why this aesthetic is so popular. It taps into a feeling of timeless, cozy luxury that we all love during the holidays.
Plus, it blends classic American style of tartan plaids, rich colors, velvet and brass accents with a warm, welcoming vibe that feels nostalgic and elevated at the same time.
With things feeling a bit unsettled this year, it is nice to fall back on old traditions that truly bring comfort and joy to your home. The good news is the look is easy to recreate on any budget, which makes it even more appealing for DIY decorators.
This season I wanted to share simple tips for achieving an elegant Ralph Lauren Christmas design on a small budget using a mix of DIY projects and thrifted finds.
Ralph Lauren Christmas Living Room
One thought that came to mind when choosing a new sofa for my mid century modern living room was how the color would look when decorating for Christmas.
That may seem like an unexpected thought, but when you love Christmas and decorating (and also have a home decor blog) it is a natural thing!
I knew I wanted color after living with a gray sofa for several years. The rich hunter green velvet sofa spoke to me and I’m loving how it looks with the tartan plaid pillows and deep velvet textures of the ribbon on the tree.

A simple Christmas wreath with a hurricane globe makes the perfect coffee table decor, without obstructing the television view.
I did have to move the sofa over so my wall art is not centered, but I do have a new DIY art project coming up next week. This is one you do not want to miss!

Our living room is not very large, so I didn’t want to overwhelm it with too many decorations, but chose to focus on the Christmas Tree and mantel.
My plan is to add my collection of vintage bottle brush trees to the window sill for that cozy curated look that Ralph Lauren Home is known for.

The soft muted green area rug is a new purchase from Lowe’s and I love how it looks in this space! It is currently on sale if you are looking for one and they have several colors and sizes.

How to Get that Ralph Lauren Christmas Aesthetic
Here are 5 tips to keep in mind when decorating your home for Christmas with a Ralph Lauren feel.
- Use velvet ribbons in deep jewel tones like emerald, navy, and rich red to instantly add that classic luxe feel without spending much.
- Incorporate tartan and plaid patterns through thrifted blankets, fabric scraps, or DIY ornaments for that signature Ralph Lauren warmth.
- Mix warm metals like brass and gold by upcycling candleholders, frames, or thrifted décor with affordable metallic spray paint.
- Layer natural textures such as pinecones, greenery, wood accents, and leather scraps to create a rich, cozy lodge-inspired feel.
- Create your own statement pieces like ribbon-wrapped ornaments, plaid bows, or simple wreath upgrades to mimic designer details for less.
Christmas Mantel Decor
Decorating the mantel for any holiday or season is my absolute favorite. It is the focal point in the room and definitely draws you in, especially when the fire is on!
By using the same ribbon on the mantel that was used on the tree, the room feels cohesive and flows naturally.

A mix of garlands, ornaments and fairy lights add elegance and tons of dimension and texture.
The navy blue velvet slipcover was purchased on Etsy when I replaced the sofa. The velvet theme was already in motion last year!
While I prefer not to have the television over the mantel, it helps to hide the black box by uploading a Christmas screensaver.
If you have not done this before, it is a game changer. Simply go to YouTube, search holiday screen savers and download your favorite. I couldn’t resist this old-fashioned Santa!
Supplies
- Chinoiserie Christmas Pillow – this was a score under $10 on Amazon!
- Plush Green Velvet Throw or Tartan Plaid Throw
- 2 Piece Christmas Garland with Fairy Lights
- Assorted Ribbon – tartan plaid, velvet in rich jewel tones such as navy blue, hunter green and deep red. Michaels had a great deal buy 1 get 3 free!
- Wood Bead Garland – make your own dried orange slices to add to the wood bead garland.
- Assorted Ornaments – in jewel tones
- Mix in other embellishments such as dried hydrangeas, berry stems and DIY faux brass nutcrackers.
- Santa Art Tutorial – you can get the tutorial and free printable to make your own Christmas Santa wall art.

Don’t be afraid to mix patterns. It’s all about classic elegance and nothing says that more than chinoiserie chic blue and white decor.

Ralph Lauren Christmas Tree
The Christmas Tree is a mix of old and new including DIY ornaments, curated pieces in the jewel-toned colors of navy, green and red.
Supplies
- King of Christmas Slim Flocked Tree with Lights
- Clip on Taper Tree Lights – I’m obsessed with these vintage style candle lights. They come with a remote and run on batteries so you can clip them anywhere!
- Green Velvet Ball Ornaments – I added gorgeous hunter green ornaments that pop against the flocked tree.
- Tartan Plaid Ribbon – The tartan plaid ribbon is in 2 sizes 2.5″ and 3.5″. This is classic Ralph Lauren and gives that traditional Christmas look I was going for.
- Green Velvet Wired Ribbon
- Deep Red Wired Velvet Ribbon
- Vintage Angel Ornament Tutorial
- Collected Ornaments and thrift store finds – don’t forget about the thrift store. I found the stunning red and gold detailed ornaments at a small thrift store for just $3 for a set of 6! It’s curated pieces like this that make a tree unique and custom.
- Embellishments – assorted berry picks, stems and picks.

The tree topper was also a thrift store find that was new in the box for $10! It adds elegance and sparkle perfect for a Ralph Lauren inspired Christmas Tree.

Quick tip: add a mirror behind your Christmas Tree to reflect the lights. I’m on the hunt for a larger one!
Can you believe this tartan plaid Christmas wrapping paper is from Dollar Tree? That made my day! I simply attached it to a wood crate with temporary adhesive.
My style changes from year to year, so I didn’t want this to be permanent. It’s always good to have options!

Now that you have your living room and mantel decorated for Christmas, put on your Ralph Lauren Christmas pajamas or Christmas sweater, grab a cup of holiday cheer and enjoy the festive season!
