Make a DIY repurposed cigar box that is the perfect size to hold television remotes.
This DIY repurposed cigar box was easily updated with pretty paper and ribbons. Add some feet and it is the perfect size to holds television remotes!
While I was visiting New Hampshire with my youngest for College Orientation, I had a chance to browse some really great thrift stores.
There were so many great finds. One was a cigar box for $1!
These can be used for so many things. I am using it to hold television remotes. But, you could also use it to store little craft supplies, buttons and baker’s twine.
Of course, I had to pretty it up, which is so fun. I wanted a very shabby chic look.
Supplies Needed To Make A Repurposed Cigar Box To Hold Remotes
- Cigar Box – you can order in bulk here.
- Tim Holz Metal Feet
- Decorative Paper
- Decorative Flowers
- Cordless Hot Glue Gun
I didn’t take a before pic, but it was a standard cigar box in pretty good shape.
Cut the decorative paper to fit the cigar box. I used a beautiful script shelf liner that I found at Bed Bath & Beyond (on clearance of course).
Secure it to the cigar box with mod podge. Next, add ribbons & lace to each side. Hot glue pretty paper roses to the top of the box.
You can either buy these, or make them out of heavy cardstock. Use a chunky glitter for the tops of the flowers.
Hot glue the cool metal “legs” by Tim Holz to the bottom of the cigar box. Finish the inside of the box as well with the same pretty paper.
It makes me smile when I look at it! I hope you enjoyed this beautiful DIY repurposed cigar box. This just goes to show you to think “outside the box” 🙂 when browsing thrift stores. You never know what you will find!
