Woohoo! I am so excited to be participating in another thrift store challenge hosted by Morgan of Charleston Crafted. This is our first month with this Thrift Games DIY Challenge and hopefully it will be a monthly occurrence.

If you have visited Our Crafty Mom before, you know how much I love thrift stores and updating thrift store finds. There is a huge Salvation Army that just opened up on my way home from work. That is a good and bad thing, as I probably stop by more often than I should. The rules for this challenge are as follows:
– Go to your favorite thrift store and spend up to $15 total on anything that inspires you.
– Bring your haul home and transform it into something for your home.
– For July the theme is Summertime!
I found unfinished wood candlesticks for 50 cents a piece. As I have been working on beach or coastal décor for my daughter’s first apartment, I thought these would be perfect for her small kitchen table. I had my new HomeRight Small Spray Shelter set up and gave them a quick coat of white chalk paint.

I plan to use the tall holder and wood base for another project. Next, I picked up three bags of vase filler in shades of blue and white to give the candlesticks a beach glass feel. This was such a simple project just using a hot glue gun. Simply glue each gem to the candlestick and you are done!
The total cost of these beautiful faux beach glass candlesticks is a whopping $4 for two! They look like something you would find in a gift shop for much more! I think my daughter will love them!
Be sure to hop on over to the other talented bloggers to see what thrifty items they are sharing. Hope you have a great day!
