DIY Mom’s Tool Box Gift Idea
Supplies
- Tool Box (found in Target Dollar Spot)
- Succulents (real or faux-mine are faux)
- Cricut Cutting Machine
- Cricut Vinyl – White
- Cricut Design Space™ app
In Cricut design space, I used the Desmond Font, which I purchased, to create the Mom’s Tool Box quote. This font has a “Rae Dunn” feel that is so popular right now. Using white removable vinyl, I carefully added it to the front of the tool box, which had a white wash effect, using transfer paper. I wanted to remove the vinyl so the quote looked almost engraved into the wood.
Then I used a cool new product from DecoArt which is a color stain. I LOVE this stain. It allows the wood grain to show through and is great to achieve a weathered look like I wanted for this tool box. I left the vinyl on, gave it a quick wash with the color stain then removed it. I went over it very lightly so it looked weathered. I love how it turned out!

Now just fill the tool box with whatever you think Mom (or you) would like. This makes a perfect gardening box, so I filled it with succulents, gardening gloves, tools, a pretty glass watering jar and a sweet card that says “Do More Of What Makes You Happy”. I hope you enjoyed this Mom’s Tool Box Gift Idea. If so, please pin the image below:
