Celebrate Thanksgiving with tips for an elegant table using antique china, plus recipes and DIY’s from a group of talented bloggers.

We can’t put it off any longer. Thanksgiving is just a week away so we need to plan our menu, do the shopping and get our table ready for guests! If you’ve visited here before you already know how much I love to set a pretty table.

It is more than just decorating. It’s creating a warm, welcoming space for your friends and family. Especially during the Holidays it’s important to remember all that we have to be thankful for. This year we are thankful for so much!

Set An Elegant Thanksgiving Table

I teamed up with a great group of bloggers for a monthly creative blog hop and this month it is all things Thanksgiving! I thought it would be fun to take a look back at some of the Thanksgiving Tablescapes I’ve shared over the last few years and also share a couple of fun DIY ideas.

This elegant Thanksgiving Tablescape is one of my favorites because I used my great, great Grandmother’s China that was passed down to my older sister. Quick tip-cut a small slice in the pumpkin stem to hold a place card.

These are real white pumpkins that I gave a quick spray of copper paint. I was able to research this China and actually found a few pieces for sale on ebay. My Dad was happy to hear about the history of it, as he wasn’t sure what year it was from.

It is Wood & Sons England Early Cobalt Imari “Glenwood” from 1891-1907. This China is not used often, but this was a very special day! You can see more of this post when I was a guest blogger at Walnut Hollow. 

Look at how different this same China looks in a rustic table setting. It is fun to come up with different ideas for place cards and this was one of my favorites. I used golden pears and attached a bay leaf to write the guests name.

My sister said she used to look forward to both my favors and place card ideas!

This year I set a traditional Thanksgiving Tablescape with a classic cornucopia. I show you how to make the cornucopia at Centsible Chateau when I was a guest blogger. I normally decorate in neutrals, so these bright autumnal colors were a fun change for me!

One of the things I like to show at Our Crafty Mom is you do not have to spend a lot of money to decorate for the Holidays. I am always mindful of a budget and usually limit myself to one new piece per Season.

I love to mix old with new. In last year’s elegant tablescape I mixed my antique Wedding China with Dollar Store chargers.  Another way I keep costs down is to shop at Thrift Stores and DIY a lot of projects like wreaths and centerpieces.

For this setting I made wood pumpkins for the place card. The guests took the little pumpkin home with them. You can find a quick tutorial for the DIY Wood Pumpkins here.
