Learn how to make gorgeous DIY beach themed coasters using mason jar lids.
It’s time for a craft destash so I thought I would take all those mason jar lids and turn them into fun DIY beach themed coasters.

Today is all about using items in my craft stash without having to spend a penny.
While that is a good thing, it also may confirm that I have a slight problem with hoarding supplies!
I mentioned recently that my daughter is moving into her first apartment in August for her Senior Year of College.
It is bittersweet, but the good thing is I have another space to decorate!
She has two roommates and they want a beach themed space.
I actually started a Pinterest Board that we can pin to so we can share ideas.
I recently posted about these pretty coastal jars that I made using mason jars and old vases.
I find that I use a ton of Mason jars but never the lids. Does that happen to you?
I literally had a bucket full of Mason jar lids, so I knew they were perfect to use for this challenge.
Here is what I made then I’ll get to how I made them:
Aren’t they so cute? They will go great in my house too-but I promise I won’t keep them!
Let’s get to the tutorial.
Beach Themed Coasters
Supplies
- Mason Jar Lids
- E6000 Craft Adhesive
- DecoArt Triple Thick Gloss Glaze
- Crushed Shells
These are really so simple to make. The hardest thing was waiting for them to dry.
First, use E-6000 to adhere the mason jar lids together.
Then add the crushed shells and the starfish or whatever else you want.
Just make sure the items sit below the lid.
I tried a larger shell, but it was not flat enough.
How cool are these tiny starfish I found on clearance last Summer? They fit perfectly in the mason jar lids.
Next, cover the entire lid with DecoArt Triple Thick Gloss Glaze
I only used one thick coat and let it dry overnight.
I used a toothpick to clear any air bubbles that formed when I first poured it.
So remember how I promised I wouldn’t keep these for myself? Well, I didn’t say I wouldn’t make myself some!
I found some clear glass coasters, also in my stash and made these up for me. They are not dry yet, but look how pretty:
Thanks so much for visiting.

Did you use wide mouth lids or regular sized ones? Love these!

Hi! You can use either, but these are regular size. They fit a standard glass. :)
