I’m sharing this love sign as part of the monthly Dollar Store Divas challenge.
This month we are featuring DIY Dollar Store Valentine’s Day craft ideas.

There are several steps to this project, but don’t be intimidated.
It is very simple and adding the hearts really steps it up a notch.
Let’s get to this easy tutorial.
Supplies needed for Dollar Tree love sign
- DecoArt Pearls Paint (similar)
- Foam Brush
- Valentine’s Day Napkins or Tissue Paper (Dollar Tree)
- Love Wood Sign (Dollar Tree)
- Mod Podge
- Scrap Wood – to fit love sign
- Glamour Dust
- Cordless Hot Glue Gun – this is my favorite!
- Wrapping Paper
Step 1.
Paint the love sign with 2 coats of pretty pink pearls paint. I used baby pink, but you can use whatever color you like.
Of course, with Valentine’s Day, I’m all about pink!
Step 2.
Paint your piece of scrap wood. Make sure it is long enough to fit the love sign.
I had an old piece of wood in my basement.
It already had letters on it, so I gave it a quick coat of pearl white paint.
I wanted to make sure no letters showed up through the wrapping paper.
Step 3.
Once the paint is dry, cover the wood with wrapping paper.
I found a pretty soft blue striped paper at the after Christmas sales.
Use mod podge to adhere it to the wood.
Be sure to press down any air bubbles using your fingers, or a credit card.
Step 3.
Cut out hearts from the napkins, or tissue paper.
You can add as many as you want, but I chose to add them just to the corners.
Be very careful when applying the napkins with mod podge.
Both tissue paper and napkins are very fragile.
If you do tear any pieces, you can cover them up with another piece. Decoupage is very forgiving!
Step 4.
Add beautiful gold glitter to the corners of the love sign.
You can use mod podge, or add it while the paint is still wet.
Again, you can add as much as you want, but I liked how it looked just in the corners.
I absolutely LOVE this glamour dust. It really adheres well.
You can see in the photo below, I just poured it right on the sign and it didn’t make a mess!
Step 5.
Hot glue the love sign to the center of the wood piece and admire your handiwork!
This is one of those pieces that could really work all year if you left the hearts off.
It would be so sweet in a baby’s room, or your bedroom.
Pink and gold is a favorite color schemes of mine.
Did you see my pink and gold craft room? Or how about my pink and gold birthday party?
