Dollar Tree Christmas Wreath
This easy DIY wreath started out as a large wood ornament from my local dollar store.
I bought it specifically to use with the leftover wall tiles from my vintage wall pockets.
Something told me they would be perfect for this project.
See how I used the same wall tiles as a backsplash on my dry sink cabinet.

Here are a few tips for making this Christmas decor.
Tips for Making a Tin Tile Christmas Wreath
Use the back of the large ornament, as it’s easier to cover. Paint it the same color that you want to use for the faux tin wall tile.
I went with a Santa Red, which is perfect for Christmas.
There is no need to cover the entire piece, just get around the outer edges as the tile may not cover it all.
Cut the Wall Tile
Next up, you want to cut the wall tile to fit the round ornament. Also cut one of the center triangles to feature the red cardinal.
While this is a peel and stick tile, when you cut the tile the sticky part comes off, so you will need to glue it to the wreath base.
You can use a hot glue gun or spray adhesive.
Use a foam brush to paint a light coat of acrylic paint on the wall tile.
Add the Red Cardinal
Print out the free red cardinal printable and cut it to fit the center of the tile that you cut out in the step above.
Use mod podge or decoupage glue to secure it to the ornament base. diy wreaths,
Add Snow-tex Around Wreath Form
Place a thin layer of snow-tex around the wreath form base using a foam brush. Let dry.
It gives it a cool snowy look that looks great with the winter cardinal scene.
Add Metallic Wax
I’m in love with this gorgeous green gold metallic wax from DecoArt.
Simply rub it all over the raised edges of the faux tin tile to add depth and dimension.
You can just use a paper towel to apply it.
Look at how that gorgeous gold shines!
Decorate the Top of the Ornament
To make the metal ornament topper less shiny and more vintage, I used cinnamon and mod podge.
See a full tutorial for this rusty cinnamon technique here.
Now, just hot glue faux poinsettias, berries, pine or other holiday decor to the top of the ornament base.
I hope you enjoyed this DIY dollar store Christmas Wreath idea.
This would look great on a front door, above a buffet, or anywhere you want a festive pop of Christmas decor.
For another look, you can also make this more of a winter wreath by hot gluing Dollar Tree feather dusters around a wreath form.
Then tie the ornament to the wreath base with twine.
That way you can leave this wreath up straight through spring!
What do you think? Do you like it alone, or with the snowy winter look?

This is so pretty, Michelle! I love the way you cut the tile pieces out. I've only every used them as a sheet. I need to remember your creative idea.
