We spend Christmas Eve at my sister’s each  year and I am responsible for dessert.  I also like to make a festive cocktail to share.

My go to dessert and one that is requested every year is a trifle.

Each year I try to come up with something new and this year I wanted to create a trifle and a cocktail to go together.

Trifles are a favorite in our family. You may also want to check out these 21 delicious trifle recipes.

My family loves chocolate and peanut butter so I went with a Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Trifle and an Eggnog Chocolate Martini. Talk about chocolate overload!!

Christmas only comes once a year so it’s alright to indulge! This is so easy to make but oh so delicious! Let’s start with the trifle:

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Trifle

  • 2 boxes of dark chocolate brownie mix
  • 2 large boxes of instant chocolate pudding
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 2 containers of cool whip
  • large bag of peanut butter cups
  • chocolate syrup

Bake the brownies according to the directions on the box. While still warm, place a layer of peanut butter cups  across the top.

Once cooled, cut in squares and place a layer of brownies in the bottom of the trifle bowl.

Mix the pudding according to the directions adding in a cup of peanut butter. Mix with a container of cool whip until it is nice & fluffy.

Once it is set layer a thick amount over the brownies.

Cut up the peanut butter cups and add a layer of those. Then drizzle chocolate syrup. Repeat the process.

I find 3 layers is perfect for a standard trifle bowl.

I also find it is best to make this the night before so it has time to set. It is so yummy, but definitely for chocolate lovers!

Now let’s get to the martini!

Vanilla Eggnog Chocolate Martini

  • 1/2 c Vanilla Eggnog
  • 1 Shot of Baileys
  • 1 Shot of Kahlua
  • Nutmeg
  • Chocolate Syrup for glass

Combine ingredients in shaker and shake over ice. Strain into martini glass drizzled with chocolate syrup. Dust with freshly grated nutmeg.

Not only is this so delicious, but it looks really pretty too!
