Christmas in July

With just 10 days left until Christmas, it’s definitely time to finalize our gift giving ideas, so we can finally enjoy the beautiful Christmas trees, lights and decorations that we worked so hard on! Today I will show you how to make a personalized wood serving tray using your Cricut. Also, if you don’t own a Cricut yet, you may want to add it to your Christmas list. You can check out the Cricut Machines here. I own a  Cricut Explore Air Machine 2 and love it, but I’m hoping to upgrade to the Cricut Maker for Christmas. The main reason is because it can cut hundreds of material, including thin wood and fabric! I would love, love to be able to cut shapes out of plywood. That is a game changer for sure!

How To Make A Personalized Wood Serving Tray

supplies for wood board

Here is what you need to make this wood serving tray:

Supplies

stained board

Instructions

Start by staining the wood board with 2 coats of stain. I used walnut, which has a nice, deep rich tone. It shows the different textures in the wood, which I love.

Add The Handles

Attach the large stainless bar pulls using the included hardware.

Create The Monogram On Cricut Design Space

Next up, create the monogram using vinyl ( I used black) and Cricut Design Space.

Finally, weed, or remove, any of the vinyl around the monogram and attach it to your wood board. This is a gift for my niece and her fiance. I decided to leave off the embellishments and just use the letter K, as it goes with their style a little better.

This serving tray is so versatile and can be used to serve drinks, as a cheese board, even attach a lazy susan base to the bottom and keep it on your table with salt and pepper shakers. Isn’t this a great gift idea? You can totally tailor it to the decor style of the person you are gifting it to and paint it a distressed white if you like, for more of a farmhouse style.

How funny! I just went out and purchased the supplies to make a similar tray. Great minds, right? This turned out really nice. Now I can't wait to get started on mine.

This is simple and beautiful. I love how the wood grain shows through. So nice to have, especially at Christmas.
