Serving trays have become increasingly popular with the viral charcuterie board trend.

Wood Serving Tray

With Christmas just around the corner, it’s definitely time to finalize our gift giving ideas.

That way we can finally enjoy the beautiful Christmas trees, lights and decorations that we worked so hard on.

Today I will show you how to make a personalized wooden serving tray using your Cricut.

There is a printable craft card below that makes it even easier for you!

Also, if you don’t own a Cricut yet, you may want to add it to your Christmas list.

I own a Cricut Explore Air Machine 2 and love it, but I’m hoping to upgrade to the Cricut Maker for Christmas.

The main reason is because it can cut hundreds of material, including thin wood and fabric.

I would love, love to be able to cut shapes out of plywood.

That is a game changer for sure.

How To Make A Personalized Wood Serving Tray

Here is what you need to make wooden serving trays with handle.

Supplies

Instructions

Start by staining the wood board with 2 coats of stain.

Be sure to get the sides of the wooden tray with stain as well.

I used walnut, which has a nice, deep rich tone. This is after one coat.

It shows the different textures in the wood, which I love.

Add The Handles

Wooden trays with handles are so convenient.

It makes it so much easier to carry the coffee table, family room or wherever else you are serving guests.

I went with extra-large handles to match the size of the board.

Simply attach the large stainless bar pulls using the included hardware.

These oversized handles give this wooden serving tray a rustic-industrial vibe which is so pretty!

Create The Monogram On Cricut Design Space

Next up, create the monogram using vinyl ( I used black) and Cricut Design Space.

Finally, weed, or remove, any of the vinyl around the monogram and attach it to your wood board.

This is a gift for my niece and her fiancé.

I decided to leave off the embellishments and just use the letter K, as it goes with their style a little better.

This serving tray is so versatile and can be used to serve drinks, as a cheese board, even attach a lazy Susan base to the bottom and keep it on your table with salt and pepper shakers.

Isn’t this a great gift idea?

You can totally tailor it to the decorating style of the person you are gifting it to and paint it a distressed white if you like, for more of a farmhouse style.
