Thrift Store Upcycle
Welcome friends! It’s time for one of my favorite challenges-the Thrift Store Decor Upcycle Challenge.
If you are new to Our Crafty Mom, I love to shop thrift stores, flea markets, yard sales and occasionally my neighbors trash-shhh, don’t tell!
This is a monthly challenge where I team up with some really awesome bloggers who love thrifting as much as I do.
I am always amazed at the projects these ladies create and I am sure you will be too.
Thrift Store Upcycle Rules:
- Upcycle an item(s) from a thrift store, resale store, or garage sale into a new piece of decor.
- There’s no monthly theme.
- There’s no budget to stick to.
Make sure you follow our board on Pinterest for more upcycled decor inspiration!
Tiered Tray From Dollar Store Cake Pans
I’m all about decorating with tiered trays.
They can be used in just about any room in your house, but they can be pricey.
When I saw cake pans at the dollar store I knew they would work perfectly for a tray!
So today I’ll show you how simple it is to make your own 3 tiered tray with just a few dollar store supplies.
They also have cake pans all the time at thrift stores and yard sales, so keep an eye out if you want to make one.
You can paint them any color, or if you have some old cake pans with a great patina you may just want to leave it unpainted for a farmhouse look.
Of course I have it all decorated for Spring.
I ended up making a farmhouse style version shown below:
I used the same faux metal technique in this post.
Three Tiered Tray Supplies
- 3 8″ cake pans
- 2 glass candle holders
- spray paint
- E-6000
Total cost: $9
I did not include the glue because I had that already and I used a 50% off coupon on the spray paint.
Never pay full price!
I gave the pans and candle holders two good coats of spray paint letting it dry in between.
Then I used E-6000 to adhere the pans to the candle holders.
It is that simple! But I seriously love it.
Tiered Tray Shown in a Tablescape
Decorate a Tiered Tray for Spring
For a easy spring centerpiece add moss to your tray and fill with bunnies, eggs and any other spring decorations you have on hand.
There is plenty of room to add all kinds of decorative items to the cake pans.
Because the candlesticks are small, they don’t take up much room.
I know I will be reusing this for different seasonal decorating and already have an idea for Summer.
Can you imagine how pretty this will be decorated for fall with mini pumpkins and mums?
Don’t even get me started on Christmas ideas!

I hope you enjoyed this super simple and budget-friendly tiered tray DIY project.
Let me know in the comments if you give it a try. Happy crafting!

Now that's the smart way to have 3 tiered stand for decorating. Looks great, even more so cause you saved on it. I looked at Tractor supply for pans of graduated sizes but is bit too rich for me, would look great but too expensive, at least for now. Did buy 2 tiered stand at Joann's but the top tier is bit wobbly, didn't see how to tighten it up. Price was right tho. Have decorated it couple times already but like having salt/pepper shakers w/measuring cup, bigger sized spoons for whatever in mason jar, my calcium on bottom with ceramic container with sweeteners on top along with jar for my creamer. Who knows what will go on it next. Love having it so versatile. Would love to have 3 tiers but will see about getting those pans maybe from Tractor Supply, just wait little longer to spend extra for bigger/deeper pans. Still like your quicker, less expensive tiered stand the best. Enjoy rest of weekend
