I’m really excited to share these easy shower melts with you, using products from the Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box for July.

Last month was the first box I received and I showed you how to make Natural Mosquito Repellant.

This has been so helpful, especially for summer barbecues.

The July box is all about the kiddos because we know how tough it is to keep them occupied all summer!

If you don’t have young kids, no worries. The box is so versatile that you can make several other things.

My daughter and I both love to pamper ourselves. But we prefer showers to baths.

What better way to enjoy a relaxing hot shower than using shower melts?

The recipe I’m sharing is a base recipe that you can completely change up with the essential oils you choose to add.

I’m sharing a few of our favorite blends today and two different sizes.

Here is a smaller size using a heart-shaped silicone mold:

Aren’t they adorable? Here is a larger melt using a recycled k-cup pod:

This is such a great way to recycle those k-cups! Now let’s get to the super simple recipe.

Essential Oil Shower Melts Recipe

Kitchen Tools

  • Mixing bowl
  • Silicone mold – I used this small heart one but if you want the melts larger, recycled k-cups work great!
  • Rubber Spatula
supplies

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Cup Epsom Salt
  • 20 Drops Of Essential Oil
  • Water (about 2-3 teaspoons)
  • Fresh Lavender (optional)

Instructions

baking soda

  • Pour baking soda and epsom salt into mixing bowl.
  • Slowly add water, about 2 teaspoons,  and mix well.  If  the mixture is not holding, you might need to add another teaspoon of water.
  • Add 20 drops of essential oils of your choice and mix well. I also added fresh lavender.
mixing with spatula

  • Add the mixture into a silicone mold or k-cups and be sure to press it so it is packed tight.

  • Let the mixture dry completely. The smaller melts took about 24 hours, and the k-cups about 48 hours.
  • Once they are dry, pop them out and store them in an airtight container. Mason jars work perfectly!

How To Use Essential Oil Shower Melts

heart melts

Place two of the smaller essential oil melts on the side of the shower, away from the stream of water.

Once the water hits the melt it releases the essential oils into the air and steam of the shower.

Breathe in the wonderful fragrance of the oils and the benefits they bring.

There are so many fun silicone molds you can use to make shower melts.

You can also add color drops if you want. Be sure you use the drops meant for soaps.

Have you tried essential oil shower melts before? If so, what are your favorite blends to use?

If not, I hope this post inspires you to give it a try. We love them and think you will too!

You can skip to the recipe at the bottom if you like. With all the AI stuff everywhere you look, I enjoy reading something from a human. But, no worries if it's not your thing. Have a good day.

Love how easy this recipe is. Thank you, any tips on removing from KCups? I packed tight (maybe too tight) and now they won’t release.

Hello there. I tried making these but when I took them out of the mold they fell apart. Any idea where I went wrong?

Did you pack them really well? They need to be pressed into the mold. You may have to play around with the amount of water you use and also try using bottle water, as your tap water may have minerals, etc that may effect the way it dries. I just made them again this year and didn't have them crumble. I'm sorry that happened and I hope these tips help.

Question. I’m finding that they are crimmbling when o pop them out of the silicone mold. Am I letting them dry too long? More water maybe?

I love how the melts last in the shower but I really can’t smell them,I think a lot more essential oil is needed. Anyone else have this problem?

@ourcraftymom, I’m gonna try again and add menthol crystals to the batch, I read that enhances the scents. I’ll let you know.

You can definitely add more essential oils. It depends on the type and fragrance you are using. The essential oils I used from Simply Earth were very fragrant. But, it's totally up to you. Hope that helps!
